General Motors Corp. said Tuesday its China sales were up 50 percent last month to a record 151,084 vehicles. Sales for Buick in China jumped 63.6 percent, with the Buick Excelle sedan doubling sales from a year ago to 22,078. GM’s China sales for the year have outpaced those in the United States. If those trends continue, China would replace the United States as the world’s biggest auto market.
GM officials say the company aims to double sales in China to about 2 million vehicles a year within the next five years. (The Associated Press)
