GM shakes up management team

GM shakes up management team

Posted on Friday, December 4th, 2009 at 2:09 PM EST. (Employee News)

General Motors Co. chairman and CEO Edward Whitacre Jr. reshuffled the Detroit automaker’s management team and named Bob Lutz and board member Steve Girsky as special advisers, The Detroit News reported.

Lutz will remain as GM’s vice chairman and Mark Reuss was named president of GM North America, the paper said. Reuss was briefly vice president of engineering after leading GM’s Holden operations in Australia in 2008, the News said. He is the son of former GM president Lloyd Reuss, who was ousted in 1992 by the company’s board, the story noted.

The paper said Nick Reilly was named president of GM Europe and Tim Lee will take over Reilly’s role as president of GM International Operations. Susan E. Docherty, the company’s top sales official, picked up new responsibilities and was named vice president, vehicle sales, service and marketing operations, the News said.

Diana D. Tremblay, the company’s top labor relations official, also got added responsibility for manufacturing, the paper said. Thomas G. Stephens will remain vice chairman of global product operations, and added global purchasing in his organization, which will continue to be led by Robert E. Socia, GM’s purchasing chief, the story said. (The Detroit News)
