Judge in Chrysler case reappointed to 14-year term

NEW YORK Judge Arthur Gonzalez, who recently oversaw the bankruptcy of automaker Chrysler, was reappointed to a second 14-year term at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
In a letter posted on Thursday on the court's website, Chief Judge Dennis Jacobs of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which appoints the bankruptcy judges, said Gonzalez would serve until October 9, 2023.
A former New York City schoolteacher, Gonzalez took the bench in 1995 after monitoring bankruptcies for the government as a U.S. Trustee for New York, Connecticut and Vermont.
Besides Chrysler, Gonzalez has overseen major bankruptcy cases such as those of Enron and WorldCom.
