Keselowski, Penske Sign Multi-year Pact

December 2, 2011

Penske Racing’s Brad Keselowski will take to the stage of the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino tonight to be honored with the other top ten finishers in the 2011 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Series challenge. But, the 27-year-old Rochester Hills, Mich., native will have something else to celebrate.

Job security.

The Penske team has announced both Keselowski and crew chief Paul Wolfe have agreed to multi-year contract extensions. The two men will continue to lead the team as it pursues the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship in 2012 and beyond.

"The winning combination of Brad Keselowski and Paul Wolfe has been terrific for Penske Racing and we are excited to announce that they will continue to work together," said Roger Penske. "With … numerous wins in both the Nationwide Series and the Cup Series to their credit, this has proven to be a special pairing.”

And in this case, Penske believes he, as team owner, is assured of performance security for years to come.

In their first season of working together in 2010, Keselowski and Wolfe produced six wins and five poles on their way to winning the Nationwide Series championship for Penske Racing. That team also established a new series single-season record with 26 top-five finishes and completed all but one lap of competition throughout the 2010 season.

The successful pairing continued in 2011, with Keselowski in his first year behind the wheel of his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger. The team recorded three victories and one pole position as it qualified for The Chase and finished fifth in the final Cup Series standings. Over the course of the last two seasons, Keselowski and Wolfe have worked together to produce nine wins, six poles, 36 top-five finishes and one NASCAR crown combined across Nationwide and Cup Series competition.

Keselowski’s teammate Kurt Busch finished 11th in this year’s Chase standings. Driving his No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger, Busch just completed his 11th season competing for the Sprint Cup, the last six as a member of Penske Racing.

Penske Racing is one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports. Competing in a variety of disciplines, cars owned and prepared by Penske Racing have produced 350 major race wins, 412 pole positions and 23 National Championships.
