Warren mayor pushes ``Buy American'' campaign

WARREN, Mich. - A mayor is encouraging his appointees buy the Detroit Three's vehicles and soon plans to offer a free bumper sticker that reads
"Buy American Products, They're Better and Safer."
Warren Mayor Jim Fouts says the bumper sticker will be available at City Hall.
Fouts drives a Chrysler and got the idea to push for buying the Detroit Three's cars after reading about the sales race between Detroit-based General Motors Corp. and Japan's Toyota Motor Corp.
Fouts tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens, The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press that it makes sense for the Detroit suburb, where GM is the biggest taxpayer and Chrysler LLC has a big presence.
Warren is home to the GM Technical Center, and thousands of residents work GM, Chrysler and Ford Motor Co.
