Mercury Production to End in October
Jul 13, 2010
We’ve known for some time that Ford's Mercury brand awaits the guillotine; we just didn’t know when it would fall.
Automobile Magazine reports that Mercury’s proverbial head will roll when, “the Panther platform Grand Marquis completes its assigned duties on September 30, followed by the Mercury-badged Explorer -- the Mountaineer -- on October 1. The Milan line ends on October 2 and the Mariner will wrap up production on October 3.”
While these dates do leave some time to for consumers to purchase a Mercury, Autoblog reports that, “Dealers did submit their final factory orders last month and those orders will be filled and delivered to dealerships in about 30 days. After that, it's all dealer trades if a particular establishment needs more cars or SUVs.”
