Groundbreaking Motorcycle Which Can Be Driven from a Wheelchair to Be Featured in World's Largest Annual Wheelchair Sports Competition in Denver

The Mobility Conquest motorcycle, the first ever motorcycle that can be driven without leaving a wheelchair, will be making its debut this weekend.

Denver, Colorado July 3, 2010 -- The Mobility Conquest (Wheelchair Motorcycles & Handicap Trikes | Mobility Conquest), a sleek motorcycle trike designed for the wheelchair-bound, will make its debut July 4-9 at the National Veteran’s Wheelchair Games in Denver.

The Conquest offers stylish freedom for the wheelchair-bound driver with challenges from the waist down who wants to still enjoy the thrill of riding a cycle on the open road. The Conquest offers convenience, maneuverability and safety to a driver. It also offers independence as entry into the trike is easy with the driver remaining in his/her own wheelchair and gliding up the built-in, rear ramp. The trike then safely locks into place for a smooth ride. The Mobility Conquest is dedicated to providing handicapped persons who have a love of the road and desire to reconnect with the sport following disability.

The trike is fully road and track tested and complies with U.S. safety standards. A BMW engine allows the trike to accelerate to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. Six hand-controlled forward gears plus reverse and keyless entry are standard on all Conquests. Each trike can be tailored to individual needs and other options are also available. An added benefit: each trike can comfortably accommodate a passenger. Uniquely designed front and rear suspension help to avoid any changes to driving or handling due to the increased weight of a passenger. Another benefit is that a service animal may also ride along.

Adaptive AutoMobility (Wheelchair Vans & Vehicle Lifts Adaptive AutoMobility) – owned by Kevin Durban – is an authorized dealer of the Conquest motorcycle with showrooms in Denver and Colorado Springs. Mark Roberts of Mobility Conquest, a bronze sponsor of the upcoming event noted, “We are excited to participate and sponsor the Veterans Wheelchair Games. We look forward to helping our service men and women reconnect with their passion for riding motorcycles.”

Five hundred people are expected to attend the annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games which are sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), with additional support from corporate and community groups. Seventeen different sports are available to veterans who use wheelchairs due to neurological disease, amputations and spinal cord injuries.

CJ Snider, local female vet and avid motorcycle enthusiast will be riding a Conquest in the opening ceremony parade July 4. She is available for interviews by calling 720-934-0218. She will also be available at 11:30 a.m. at Civic Center Park that morning and at 5:30 p.m. before the start of the parade.

Suzuki is one of the first manufacturers to announce its initial wave of 2011 motorcycles. Go-fast riders will be happy to see the 2011 Hayabusa on the list.

Suzuki Intros First Wave of 2011 Motorcycles

Monday, July 19, 2010

With motorcycle sales flailing and a surplus of inventory on hand, Suzuki made the difficult decision not to release any 2010 models into the American market. The disparity between Suzuki’s supply and consumer demand dictated the cost-saving measure. Despite sitting a year out, Suzuki announces its first wave of 2011 motorcycles with great aplomb and the excitement of celebrating its 50th anniversary of international racing this summer.

5 easy steps to buying a new motorcycle

There's more to buying a motorcycle than finding the fastest bike with the coolest paint job. You should get a motorcycle that excites you, but you also want a bike that fits your needs, one that's not too dangerous and one that fits in your price range.

Here are a few steps you can take to find the right bike for you.

Jay Leno to Cover Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

07/31/2010

Sturgis News

Jay Leno's Tonight Show is headed to Sturgis for the 70th Annual Motorcycle Rally. Leno, a hard-core automobile and motorcycle enthusiast, will be covering Pee-wee Herman's visit to The Legendary Buffalo Chip on August 8th and 9th 2010.

Pee-wee Herman will officially kick off The Chip's festivities at Strugis, where the estimated attendance is expected at over 650,000 riders, by leading tens of thousands of bikers in the World's Largest Tequila Dance.

Campground owner Rod Woodruff is unsure of exactly what the The Tongiht Show would be covering while at the Chip beyond a planned Tequila Dance.

Rod Woodruff says: "Pee-Wee is going to cram a lot of activity into his two days at the Buffalo Chip. And, we're of course delighted that The Tonight Show will be here to let the world know about his adventures here at the Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally."

This past winter in Los Angeles, Pee-wee Herman came back to life with a stunning new production of "The Pee-wee Herman Show" that met with rave reviews by critics and fans of all ages.

Pee-wee Herman says: "Before I made Big Adventure I didn't know much about bikers. During the filming of that movie I realized that bike enthusiasts are freedom-loving Americans with hearts of gold-- and sometimes a lot of tattoos and leather!"

Jay Leno has recently geared-up the return of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" which successfully premiered on Monday, March 1, 2010.

The new late-night TV show includes many of the features that have made Leno a talk show host leader for more than a dozen years including the return of "Headlines," "Jaywalking" and "Battle of Jaywalking All-Stars."

Past Jay Leno shows have also included classic motorcycles, motorcycle racers and motorcycling events. But his love for motorsports does not stop there.

Jay Leno's 17,000 square feet garage is stuffed with a mouth-watering collection of machines. Jay makes his purchases not as museum pieces, but because he enjoys driving the cars and motorcycles in his collection.

RECALLS: Yamaha, Ducati recall motorcycles

RECALLS: Yamaha, Ducati recall motorcycles

Tuesday August 10, 2010

Yamaha Motor Corp. recalled about 54,000 MY 2005-2010 YZF-R6, and Ducati North America recalled about 200 MY 2010 MTS1200, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Yamaha is recalling certain model year 2006-2010 YZF-R6 motorcycles that were manufactured August 2005-March 2010. The front side reflector was not placed at the proper height, which fails to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 108, “Lams, reflective devices, and associated equipment.” The NHTSA stated the visibility of the motorcycle will be decreased, possibly increasing the risk of a crash.

Ducati’s 2010 Multistraded 1200 motorcycles are being recalled because during production an incorrect screw may have been installed in the bike’s steering head. This could cause the steering head to become loose during normal operation, which could adversely affect the driver’s ability to steer the vehicle increasing the risk of crash, according to the NHTSA.
