Dodge Motorsports Notes & Quotes - Richmond Race Final - Richmond Int'l Raceway

RICHMOND , Sep 11, 2010 -

KURT BUSCH (No. Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Finished 18th
"We've got a lot to be proud of on the Penske team. We started off the season with a new crew chief and to get him built into a solid foundation and make him feel comfortable was great. To win at Atlanta early on and get a couple of poles and to sweep the Charlotte race weekends was a huge moral boost for out team; it let us know that we were doing things the right way. To be consistent, 15 top-10 finishes, it's a lot to be proud of. We have our work cut out for us in the Chase. We've got to bare down and get after it these next 10 weeks. We can't make mistakes and take ourselves out of contention by doing some things that would stretch ourselves thin. Just getting into the groove of the Chase, I'm excited for things to fire up on Friday (at Loudon).

“We were trying something new tonight on the Miller Lite Dodge, knowing that we were already locked into the Chase. Tonight was an all-or-nothing race for us. We knew that second-place didn’t matter, so it made sense for us to try some different things on the Miller Lite Dodge and that’s what we did. The bottom line is that we did our homework for 26 races to put ourselves in position to make the Chase and we did our job. To make the Chase is a great testament to everyone that works on this Miller Lite Dodge. To represent Miller and Dodge and all of our sponsors in the 10 races to the championship is exciting. We were able to bank the 20 bonus points with our wins at Atlanta and Charlotte which means that we’re only 40 points out starting the Chase. It’s a whole different season now and it starts next week in Loudon.”

DAVE WINSTON (Race Engineer, No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)
“We’re in the Chase and we’ve got as good a shot at winning the champions as the other 11 guys who made it. The key for us is to approach every week like we’ve run all year. We know that we’re a good race team and have proven so the first 26 races. Now it’s go time. We’ve been building toward a 10-race showdown and now it’s time to get after it. Kurt’s a champion and he knows what it takes to win this thing. We’re excited. We can’t wait to get to Loudon next weekend.”

BRAD KESELOWSKI (No. 12 Penske Racing Dodge Charger) Finished 15th
“I guess it was a decent day, but it could have been a little bit better. We’re trying so hard. We can’t seem to get that top 10, but it isn’t for the lack of effort, that’s for damn sure. A lot of heart and a lot of hard work have gone into our program, but we haven’t gotten there yet. We just don’t have quite enough speed in our cars. We’ve got to find some speed. Man, I want to run better than that. We just haven’t gotten there yet.”

SAM HORNISH JR (No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger) Finished 28th
“Early in the race, we were pretty good. We went from 33rd to I think 21st. We made a small adjustment on the air pressure and that didn’t work and went back on that and made another small change and it was even worse. We didn’t make good adjustments on the car tonight. We were good on the first run and good on the last run, but wasn’t good on any run in the middle. That killed us. I’m disappointed.”
