Nissan Motor Co. said today that it will build advanced battery-making plants in Britain and Portugal to power its future electric cars.
A report in The Detroit News said the British and Portuguese governments have offered financial assistance and other support to the automaker and its alliance partner Renault SA for the plants to make lithium-ion batteries. The batteries will be used in the zero-emission electric cars Nissan is developing and hopes to begin selling in small numbers next year. (The Detroit News)
