During the worst of Buffalo Narrows' recent 59-centimetre snowfall, some residents rode quads and snowmobiles to get around the northern Saskatchewan village. Most, though, just hunkered down at home and waited it out.
Mary Giesbrecht's car was under snow for two days before plows cleared the roads Tuesday.
"I couldn't see the front end of my car," she said in a phone interview. "It was pretty rough."Residents say it's the biggest dump in recent memory for the town of 1,100, located about 250 kilometres north of Meadow Lake.
"Everyone was stuck," said Diana Desjarlais, owner of the BN WaterFront Inn, who coaxed
her Dodge Nitro through snow-packed streets Monday, stopping frequently to free her tires from snow. "It was a little rough and everyone was late getting to work."
