November Ford sales jump 19.8% in Europe

Ford Motor Co.’s auto sales leapt 19.8 percent last month in its 19 key European markets—the company’s sixth consecutive monthly increase in the region, The Detroit News reported.
Year-to-date, Ford sold more than 1.3 million cars and trucks in those 19 markets, representing a decline of 1.4 percent compared with a year ago, the paper said. In the first 11 months of 2009, Ford registered 1,331,500 vehicles in its 19 European markets, a reduction of 18,400 units or 1.4 percent lower than in the same period in 2008, the News said.
This compares with a total industry decline of 6 percent in the same period, the paper said. In the 51 markets that make up Europe as a whole, Ford’s sales were down 8.7 percent year-to-date, compared to the same period in 2008, the story said. (The Detroit News)
