Recall Alert: 2010 Acura ZDX

If you own, or are shopping for, a 2010 Acura ZDX, take note: 1,850 models are being recalled due to a glitch in its front passenger-side airbag.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “During the manufacturing process, the dashboard covering material may have not been properly laser scored to allow complete deployment of the front passenger’s SRS airbag.” In other words, the front passenger-side airbag may not deploy in the event of a crash -- which could be extremely dangerous.
“Honda said no incidents because of the issue have been reported,” writes the New York Times. “The problem was discovered during a manufacturing quality check.”
The recall only affects 2010 ZDX models manufactured between November 20, 2009 and March 22, 2010. Acura plans to notify owners by mail. Affected drivers will be required to take their ZDXs to an Acura dealer for a free inspection. Vehicles that do not pass will have their dashboards replaced free of charge.
