Recall Alert: 2010 Land Rover Range Rover
Posted: Dec. 08, 2009
Jaguar Land Rover has issued a recall for about 4,000 2010 Range Rover vehicles due to a problem with passenger airbag deployment.
In a recall notice, filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company explains that these vehicles utilize an occupant classification system that determines whether the front passenger’s seat is occupied, and activates or disables the airbag accordingly. According to the recall notice, “These vehicles… may experience airbag warning lamp illumination on the instrument cluster. The passenger airbag will be disabled when the airbag warning lamp is illuminated as a result of this defect and the passenger airbag warning disable (PAWD) lamp in the overhead console will also illuminate.” Essentially, the warning light may illuminate, disabling the system, even if a passenger is present..
The recall will begin on or before December 21, 2009. Dealers will update the OCS diagnostic system to correct the problem, free of charge. Owners may contact Land Rover at 1-800-452-4827.
