Ford Recalls 2011 Edge, F-Series and Lincoln MKX

The automotive industry has been slammed with recalls in 2010, and the latest from Ford affects 14,737 Ford Edge, F-Series and Lincoln MKX vehicles. “Ford is recalling certain model year 2011 F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles,” reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. “During a six-day production period, the supplier of the body control module manufactured modules that may have the potential for an internal short.”

Fortunately, this means that not all 2011 vehicles are affected, but if your truck or crossover is subject to the recall, you should take it in for service. “The recall affects 2011 F-150 pickups built between Nov. 3 and Nov. 20; 2011 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 pickups built between Oct. 28 and Nov. 19; and 2011 Edge and MKX crossovers built between Oct. 25 and Nov. 3,” says Cars.com. “You can check your car’s manufacture date on the sticker inside the driver-side doorjamb.”

According to Autoblog, “Dealers are expected to inspect the module and, if necessary, replace it free of charge.” Ford is expected to begin the recall on or before January 10, 2011. If you’d like to know if your vehicle is affected, you can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
