Honda Recalls 2010-2011 Accords, 2011 Pilot

If you thought the recent Honda Fit recall was the end of Honda’s troubles, think again. The Honda Accord and Honda Pilot were both recalled yesterday due to suspension issues. Honda says the company “will recall approximately 10,800 late model year 2010 to 2011 Accord and model year 2011 Pilot vehicles in the U.S. to prevent potential front suspension failure.”

Issues at the assembly plant are apparently to blame for the recall. “The problem focuses on the machinery used to tighten nuts on the front axles of both vehicles,” reports USA Today. “And on the Pilot alone, there's an issue with the damper attachment bracket bolts, which may cause the front suspension of a small number of these vehicles to fail.”

Fortunately, Accord and Pilot owners will not have to wait too long to find out if their vehicles need to go in for service. “Honda will notify owners of the affected vehicles this week, says Cars.com. “Honda dealerships will inspect the suspension and replace the spindle nuts and the front dampers and attachment bracket bolts if necessary, free of charge.”

If you’d rather not wait to be notified, “owners of these vehicles will be able to determine if their vehicle requires repair by going on-line,” says Honda. “Honda owners can go to www.recalls.honda.com or call (800) 999-1009, and select option 4.”
