GM Recalls 44,117 Cadillac CTS Vehicles

The Cadillac CTS is generally known for its good safety scores from the insurance industry and the federal government. However, GM is issuing a safety recall on this IIHS “Top Safety Pick”. “General Motors is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Cadillac CTS vehicles,” reports NHTSA. “Some of these vehicles have a condition in which a wax coating on the rear suspension toe link jam nuts may allow the nut(s) to loosen.”
A total of 44,117 Cadillac CTS vehicles are being recalled, and while a loose nut may not seem like a big deal, play in a car’s suspension system is never a good thing. The Chicago Tribune writes, “The auto company said nuts in the rear suspension could become loose, causing a sudden change in the vehicle's handling or making the driver lose control of the vehicle.”
Thankfully, the recall hasn’t been prompted by any injuries or fatalities. “GM said today it knows of no injuries or fatalities related to this condition. All but 88 vehicles are 2009 models,” writes the Detroit News. “GM has been investigating the issue since May and has received four complaints. Some consumers have complained of metal clanging sounds coming from the rear of the vehicle.”
