Recall Alert: Honda Odyssey/Acura RL
Hondas Recalls Odyssey and Acura RL
Oct 25, 2010
Quote:
Hot on the heels of a related Toyota recall, Honda has announced that it’s tackling a similar issue.
In a press release, Honda says it’s conducting “a voluntary safety recall of 471,820 model year 2005 to 2007 Acura RL and model year 2005 to early 2007 Honda Odyssey vehicles to replace a seal in the brake master cylinder.”
“In the recalled vehicles, the seal may fail and allow brake fluid to leak and then cause loss of brake response,” writes Kicking Tires. “This could lead to soft brake-pedal feel and the possible loss of hydraulic braking circuits, the company says.”
According to the Associated Press, “the recall affects certain 2005-2007 model year Acura RL sedans and Honda Odyssey minivans from the 2005 to early 2007 model year.” They add that, “There have been no injuries or accidents tied to the problem.”
The recall is part of NHTSA recall campaign number 10V504000. To remedy the problem, Honda and Acura dealers will replace the brake master cylinder seal for free. If you think your car may be affected, or you have other questions, contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. You can also call NHTSA’s hotline at 1-888-327-4236. Honda will contact the original owners of the affected cars, but if you bought a used RL or Odyssey, you may not be contacted. Be proactive about contacting Honda to make sure your car gets fixed.
