Recall Alert: Jaguar XF

Jaguar has issued a recall order for about 2,000 XF sedans from the 2010 model year in order to correct a fuel system defect that could cause the engine to stall.
In a recall notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the automaker explains, "The fuel transfer pipe in the fuel tank may be kinked. This may restricts fuel being transferred from one side of the fuel tank to the fuel pump causing fuel starvation at low fuel levels." The problem "can cause the engine to stall without warning and could potentially cause a crash."
Jaguar dealers will repair the fuel tank assembly free of charge. XF owners should receive a recall notice in the mail this month, but those who wish to make their own repair arrangements may contact Jaguar at (800) 452 – 4827.
The XF has been on the market for a little over a year, but this is already the third major recall campaign involving the car. Last year, 2009 XFs were recalled to correct an electrical defect that caused the audible alerts in some vehicles to fail, and to correct a second defect that could have affected rear seatbelt function in some cars.
