Mercedes-Benz Recalls Diesel Vehicles for Fuel Leak

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 6,872 diesel vehicles because of a potential fuel leak. “The diesel fuel filter may leak from the area around the heating component,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.
Affected vehicles include certain 2011 E-Class, 2011 GL-Class, 2011 ML-Class, 2011 R-Class and 2012 S-Class models. The diesel fuel could leak near the heat source or leak onto the road. “This could lead to a crash or cause a fire in the presence of an ignition source,” Kicking Tires reports.
Inside Line says, “In other documentation filed with the federal government, Mercedes-Benz issued a stop-sale order to its U.S. dealers on the aforementioned vehicles until repairs can be completed.”
If you own one of the affected vehicles, Mercedes-Benz will contact you in November. Dealers will inspect and replace the diesel fuel filter for free if the repair is necessary.
