Recall Alert: Nissan Cube
Recall Alert: Nissan Cube
Jul 27, 2010
Nissan will be recalling 46,000 Cube models after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) discovered in rear-end crash testing that, "When the vehicle was rotated following a rear moving barrier crash test as required, the amount of fuel leakage exceeded the allowable limits."
This situation may be unlikely in most rear-end collisions, but NHTSA proved it is possible.
As a result, Nissan is recalling Cube vehicles built between Jan. 30, 2009 and July 30, 2010 to, "attach a special protector to the gasoline recirculation tube, which will prevent leakage," reports Cars.com.
Autoblog adds that, "Naturally, the service will be performed free of charge at any authorized Nissan dealer."
If you own a Cube expect the recall to begin on or before Aug. 30 and to be contacted by mail from Nissan. If you would like more information you can call the NHTSA hot line at 888 327 4236 or Nissan at 800 647 7261.
