Recall Alert: Porsche 911
Porsche Recalls 2010 911 GT3 Models For Rear Wheel Hub Issue
Dec 13, 2012
Porsche has announced the recall of 2010 model year 911 GT3s, built between May 15, 2009 and February 11, 2010. At issue is the rear wheel hub assembly, which may be prone to failure under certain driving conditions. Some 455 Porsche 911 GT3 models are affected by this recall.
The recall also specifies that the maintenance intervals outlined in the ownerís manual may not be frequent enough to prevent rear wheel hub failure. A revised maintenance schedule will be published and sent to owners as part of this recall campaign.
It isnít clear if rear wheel hub failures have led to any accidents or injuries, but such component failure can result in a loss of control, increasing the likelihood of a crash. Porsche dealers will replace the rear wheel hubs on affected cars at no charge to owners, and Porsche will distribute the revised service schedule as part of the notification letter.
Expect the recall to begin later this month, but owners with questions or concerns can reach Porscheís customer service at (800) 767-7243, referencing recall number AC05. Alternatively, owners can get the latest information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrationís Vehicle Safety Hotline, reached at (888) 327-4236.
