Volvo Recalls 2006-2012 C70 And 2011-2012 S60

Volvo has issued a recall for C70 vehicles from the 2006 - 2012 model years, as well as S60s from 2011 and 2012. The problem: faulty information contained within the vehicles' optional spare tire kit. In all, some 19,600 vehicles are affected.
According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall includes 2006 - 2012 C70s built between November 15, 2005 and July 31, 2011, as well as 2011 - 2012 S60s manufactured from July 14, 2010 through April 16, 2011. Some of those vehicles came with a spare tire kit, which contains misinformation about the proper tire pressure for the spare tire.
In the grand scheme of things, this may not sound like an especially urgent recall, but as we all know, overinflated and underinflated tires can be a real problem. Both are more prone to burst than properly inflated tires, and if that happens while driving, a serious accident could follow.
The NHTSA bulletin doesn't suggest the correct tire pressure for the spares, nor does it say when Volvo will begin the recall in earnest. When it does, though, owners will be able to take their vehicles to a Volvo dealership, which will replace the information label in the spare tire kit free of charge.
