Recall Alert: Volvo XC60
Posted: Dec. 23, 2009
Kicking Tires reports that the recall affects the 2010 Volvo XC60, and "involves a fuel line cover that may not be properly attached, leading to possible damage to the fuel lines. The fuel lines could then leak and potentially start a fire."
Motor Trend reports the XC60 recall comes as Volvo is also recalling "136,100 cars due to a fuel pump that can develop cracks when exposed to hot climate and temperature cycling along with varying fuel quality. The recall affects 2001-2005 S80s, 2001-2004 V70s S60s, XC70s, and 2003-2005 XC90s sold or registered in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and the U.S. territories. The recall begins in January."
The XC60 recall doesn't affect as many models. Autoblog says, it "is directed at 5,253 2010 model year XC60 vehicles." However, Kicking Tires points out, "The 5,253 recalled vehicles appear to be all the XC60s that have been sold so far in the U.S."
Dealers will inspect and fix the fuel line cover on affected XC60s free of charge beginning in January. If you own one of the affected vehicles, you should get a notice in the mail, or you can call Volvo at 800-458-1552.
