The courtship between the car and Silicon Valley took another step forward yesterday with the introduction of the refreshed Lincoln MKX crossover, The Detroit News reported.
Ford Motor Co. Chairman Bill Ford Jr. unveiled the new MKX at the Detroit auto show, saying it will lead the way for the introduction of MyLincoln Touch instrument panel technology, which will digitalize many of the basic controls of the car, the News said.
For 2011, the MKX receives a new 3.7-liter V-6 engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the paper said. The powertrain’s highway fuel economy is rated at 25 mpg on regular fuel, the News said. Horsepower has been increased to 305 “a 15 percent increase compared with the outgoing MKX,” while torque is up to 280 ft.-lb., marking a 12 percent improvement, the story said. (The Detroit News)
