The future of automotive sales in the United States is bright, despite a national recession and an industry-wide sales slump, according to Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corp., the Detroit Free Press reported.
Toyoda, speaking at the Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, said the United States will serve as an engine for growth for automakers for years to come due to its population growth and the country’s love for cars, the paper said. “We are confident that the U.S. market will recover,” Toyoda, the grandson of the company’s founder, said in the story.
Toyoda said market research shows that the population of the United States will grow by nearly 21 million people over the next seven years and that the driving population will expand by another 17 million, the paper said. (Detroit Free Press)
