Toyota Motor Corp.’s Corolla and Matrix vehicles are being investigated by U.S. regulators for “randomly” stalling, Bloomberg reported.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into the 2006 model-year of the cars after receiving 26 complaints about engine malfunctions while driving, according to a statement on the agency’s Web site today, the news service said. Toyota City, Japan-based Toyota is the world’s biggest automaker, Bloomberg said.
Toyota last week said it plans to repair accelerator pedals on more than 4 million vehicles in the U.S. including some Camry and Prius cars as part of the biggest recall ever for the automaker, the report said. Toyota also recalled 110,000 Tundra pickup trucks after the U.S. announced an investigation into frame corrosion that can damage brake lines and dislodge spare tires, the story said. (Bloomberg)
