Volkswagen Routan minivans RECALL
Volkswagen recalling 16,000 Chrysler-built minivans

Volkswagen of America is recalling approximately 16,000 2009 Routan minivans to address fire concerns involving latches on the sliding doors. The recall was prompted by the same concerns that lead Chrysler to recall almost 285,000 Town & Countrys and Caravans because of a potential fire hazard involving wiring in the side doors.
The Routan is a clone of the Chrysler
minivans and is built in the same plant in Windsor, Ontario.
Kerry Christopher, Volkswagen’s new communications manager, said the company was aware of what he described as “a couple of incidents” that pointed to possible overheating in the doors. VWoA says no injuries or crashes have been reporte
