Automotive News is reporting that Volkswagen will start producing a new model at its plant in Mexico next March or April and invest $1 billion to expand the site.
The plant currently produces Jettas, Boras and New Beetles.
The German company previously had said it would invest $1 billion in Mexico between 2008 and 2010, without specifying how it would spend the money, according to Automotive News.
Volkswagen is Mexico’s No. 2 automaker, sending most of its cars to the United States, Canada and Europe. (Automotive News)
