Tata hopes to sell world’s cheapest car in U.S.

Reuters reports that India’s Tata Motors says it hopes to offer a Nano that meets U.S. emissions and crash standards in the United States within two years.
Tata chairman Ratan Tata told the Cornell Global Forum on Sustainable Global Enterprise on Wednesday that the company plans to offer a European version of the car, which costs about $2,300, in 2011.
The four-seater car gets as much as 65 miles per gallon. Tata said his company also was working to develop cars that run on fuels other than gasoline such as clean diesel, biofuels and batteries. (Reuters)
