GM OnStar Glitch Affects 60,000 Vehicles Including 2013 Chevy Cruze, Equino
General Motors has discovered a software issue affecting the OnStar system on about 60,000 vehicles. An Automotive News report says the glitch affects the following model year 2013 cars and crossovers: Chevrolet Cruze, Equinox, and Volt; Cadillac XTS and ATS; Buick Verano; and GMC Terrain. A number of 2012 Cadillac SRX crossovers also have the glitch.

Otherwise, the system will operate normally, sending an alert in the event of an accident that does cause the airbags to deploy. Also, most OnStar features still function properly, including the smartphone app and the emergency button that immediately connects passengers to the call center.
The software problem is found in sold and unsold cars. GM can fix the glitch remotely, although some vehicles will require a manual upgrade to be performed at a dealership. Owners of affected vehicles were notified last month. GM expects to have the issue fully resolved by the end of the month.
