possible new owner

Im currently in my research part of buying and have a few vehicles in mind one being the Nitro. Ive liked the looks since they came out but never had an opportunity to get one.

One of my main questions is about the 4wd system. I just noticed its not a true 4wd, and has a 4wd lock switch. Is this system more of a on demand awd system? By that I mean, does I automatically activate when it senses the wheels slipping with the option to lock it in if say your on a slippery slop, or do you have to lock it in to activate it?

My other optional vehicles at this time are the Saturn vue and dodge caliber which are both full time awd systems. Only downfall with these vehicles is I could tow my trailer with them( just a truck bed trailer to haul trash with about once every other month) but assuming I could with out issues with the nitro.

Any advice or knowledge about this would awesome, and I will continue my own research and my even find the answers.

Welcome Ed: I too wanted full-time 4WD having a Jeep Grand Cherokee previously but this system works pretty good in the snow when activated by the switch for 4WD. If you find a Nitro R/T or one with a 4.0 engine you could tow 5K! You need to find one with a factory installed trailer towing package.

Hope this Link helps.
