November 9, 2011 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Building on the success of several recent special-edition Jeep vehicles, the Jeep® brand is introducing its latest models: the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Arctic and Jeep Liberty Arctic.

The rugged, extreme winter conditions of the arctic are the inspiration for these latest Jeep models. With winter temperatures that can reach -50°F and wind speeds that can exceed 100 miles per hour, the arctic is well known as one of the most intense climates on Earth.

“There are few environments more grueling and demanding than the arctic, which is just the type of terrain legendary Jeep vehicles are engineered to conquer,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO — Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Not only will the Jeep Wrangler Arctic and Jeep Liberty Arctic appeal to our loyal enthusiasts, but their unique content will attract new customers to the Jeep brand.”

Available in Liberty, Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, the 2012 Arctic models arrive in Jeep showrooms this month.

2012 Jeep Wrangler Arctic
Based on the Wrangler Sahara model, the Arctic’s winter theme is immediately recognizable. Available colors are Winter Chill, Bright Silver and Bright White. Exterior features include a body-color hardtop and fender flares, “Arctic” badges on the front fenders, a “Yeti Footprint” decal over part of the driver’s side fender and hood, black hood decal and Mopar® black fuel filler door and taillamp guards.

Jeep Wrangler Arctic also offers an aggressive Wrangler Rubicon tire and wheel package, with unique semi-gloss black 17-inch wheels shod with 32-inch tires.

Inside, Wrangler Arctic’s seats are black Tectonic fabric with Polar White accents and orange piping and accent stitching. Front seats are heated and feature an “Arctic” logo in the seat back. Accent stitching can also be found on the steering wheel, arm rest and console lid. Door trim and nets are accented in orange, and all grab handles and dashboard vent rings are finished in Polar White trim.

Mopar tread pattern slush mats with white “Jeep” lettering complete the Wrangler Arctic package.

2012 Jeep Liberty Arctic
Available on Liberty Sport 4x4 models, the Arctic shares many of the same features as the Wrangler Arctic. Available exterior colors are Winter Chill, Bright Silver, Bright White and Mineral Gray. “Arctic” badges on the front fenders are shared, though the “Arctic” decal on the hood is unique to Liberty. Semi-gloss black 16-inch aluminum wheels with center caps painted semi-gloss black are wrapped in P235/70R16 OWL all-terrain tires. Rounding out the exterior highlights are deep tint glass and tow hooks, blacked-out headlamps and standard fog lamps.

The interior features a similar black and Arctic Orange color scheme found in Wrangler. Seats are covered in black vinyl with a Gortex embossment, and the inserts are Tectonic fabric with Polar White accents. Arctic Orange accent stitching can be found on the seat backs, cushions and headrests. Power front seats are heated and feature an “Arctic” logo in the seat back. Finishing touches include gray-faced gauges, express up/down one-touch windows, Media Center 430 touch-screen with a nine-speaker Infiniti sound system and Mopar slush mats with white “Jeep” lettering.

2012 Jeep Wrangler
Jeep® Wrangler – the most capable and recognized vehicle in the world – becomes even more capable both on- and off-road for 2012, courtesy of an all-new, more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine, and a new five-speed automatic transmission – both of which it shares with the award-winning Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine – winner of the prestigious Ward’s 10 Best Engines award – delivers 285 horsepower (209 kW) and 260 (353 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque, while delivering up to 21 miles per gallon highway in the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Additionally, for refined shifting and greater performance, the Jeep Wrangler migrates from a four-speed to a new five-speed automatic transmission. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler also features the company’s first application of a manual transmission to the Pentastar V-6.

Jeep continues to refine the successful Wrangler formula by combining legendary, benchmark capability with an interior that delivers rich styling with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance courtesy of a body-color hardtop for the popular Sahara and Rubicon models.

2012 Jeep Wrangler interior highlights include a recently redesigned instrument panel and storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. A lockable console and upgraded door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points, while a redesigned center stack is easier to reach and operate. Heated, power mirrors are available, and drivers and passengers enjoy enhanced visibility courtesy of large rear windows.

2012 Jeep Liberty
Jeep Liberty remains true to Jeep’s legendary 4x4 heritage by offering two Jeep Trail Rated® four-wheel-drive systems – Command-Trac II® and Selec-Trac II®. New 2012 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon Captures Prestigious 'Four Wheeler of the Year' Award from Four Wheeler Magazine

More fuel-efficient, more powerful and more capable Jeep® Wrangler recognized with esteemed award from leading off-road enthusiast magazine

“Four Wheeler of the Year” is Jeep Wrangler’s 8th award in recent weeks
Jeep Wrangler boasts dramatically improved on-road performance and even more off-road prowess for 2012

New 3.6-liter V-6 engine improves Wrangler’s fuel efficiency – up to 21 miles per gallon – with a 40-percent increase in horsepower and a 10-percent increase in torque

Wrangler succeeds Jeep Grand Cherokee as “Four Wheeler of the Year

Jeep Wrangler sales up 29 percent for the year; November marked sixth consecutive monthly sales record

December 1, 2011 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The new 2012 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon – the most capable production vehicle on the planet – has been named “Four Wheeler of the Year” by Four Wheeler magazine. The award is given annually by the editors of the opinion-leading off-road enthusiast magazine.

“The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon owned nearly all aspects of off-road testing during our annual ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ competition,” said Four Wheeler Editor John Cappa. “The grueling 1,000-mile trek put each contending vehicle through its paces in several on- and off-road environments, including high-speed graded roads, jagged rocks, shifting sand dunes, and more. The universal do-all capability of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon allowed it to outperform the other competing 4x4s, making it our 2012 Four Wheeler of the Year award winner.”

To qualify for the competition, entries had to be entirely new or have substantial mechanical revisions from a previous model year. Testing was conducted over more than a thousand miles on a variety of terrain, including pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks and mud, at elevations ranging from sea level to more than 9,000 feet.

“By earning the respected ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ award, consumers – and particularly the most die-hard off-road enthusiasts – can be assured that the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has established an even higher level of unmatched capability,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “We are delighted the influential editors of ‘Four Wheeler’ magazine have recognized Wrangler’s new level of capability, along with its improved power, torque and fuel efficiency.”

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon “Four Wheeler of the Year” award comes a year after the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the premium icon of the brand – captured the award, and less than two years after the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was named the Best 4x4 vehicle of the 2000-2009 decade by Four Wheeler magazine.

The “Four Wheeler of the Year” award is the latest in a list of awards the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler has received since its introduction in September. Other recent Wrangler accolades include:

2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Named “4x4 of the Year”

2013 Jeep® Wrangler Moab Named “4x4 of the Year” by Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine

Second consecutive year Jeep Wrangler takes home prestigious award from leading off-road enthusiast publication

Fourth award for Jeep Wrangler in past two weeks

New 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab features Goodyear Silent Armor off-road tires, winch-ready steel bumpers, and an available locking rear differential for increased capability

Jeep Wrangler sales up 18 percent in 2012

October 31, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The editors of Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine have given their top honor – “4x4 of the Year” – to the new 2013 Jeep® Wrangler Moab edition. Paying tribute to Jeep enthusiasts’ favorite off-roading destination, the Jeep Wrangler Moab includes Goodyear Silent Armor off-road tires, winch-ready steel bumpers, and an available locking rear differential for increased capability.

This marks the second straight year that Jeep Wrangler has taken home the magazine’s “4x4 of the Year” honor.

"The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition proved once again what a Jeep is all about.” said Rick Péwé, editor-in-chief of Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road. “The Moab edition has the basic options that allows for great backcountry exploring and 4-wheeling without the fear of not returning to civilization. The Moab edition is another hit for Chrysler in the long 70-year history that is the Jeep brand. It never fails to deliver in this package.”

Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road’s “4x4 of the Year” competition included hundreds of miles of trails, where editors evaluated suspensions, drivetrains, transfer case functionality, and off-road performance – on sand, mud, dirt and rock – as well as styling and value. They tested everything from how well a vehicle climbs severe, rocky terrain, to how fast it can drive across the desert, and every scenario in between.

“The new Jeep Wrangler Moab edition delivers rugged off-road features such as winch-ready steel bumpers, upgraded rock rails and an available rear-locker in a package that pays tribute to our most diehard Jeep enthusiasts and the off-road playground they love,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The editors of Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine always put vehicles through the toughest paces in their ‘4x4 of the Year’ testing. We’re pleased this opinion-leading publication has recognized the outstanding capability of the new Jeep Wrangler Moab edition.”

This latest honor from Petersen’s 4-Wheel and Off-Road magazine is the fourth award for the 2013 Jeep Wrangler in the past two weeks. Last week, the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) named Jeep Wrangler the “Mid-Size SUV of Texas,” while a panel of journalists and professional athletes awarded it the “Best Off-Road Value” in the 2013 Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year, in a competition in Arizona. And earlier this week, Jeep Wrangler was named the “Hottest 4x4 SUV” of the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

Jeep Wrangler continues to enjoy significant momentum in the marketplace, with sales up 18 percent in 2012 (through September).

New 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab
To kick off the 2013 model year, Jeep Wrangler debuts a limited-edition model named after one of the most popular off-road destinations in the world – Moab, Utah. The Jeep Wrangler Moab is based on the Wrangler Sahara model and is equipped with hardware popular with off-roading enthusiasts.

Official upgrades include 17-inch Rubicon alloy wheels painted gloss black running new 245/75R17 Goodyear Silent Armor off-road tires and standard Trak-Lok anti-spin rear differential with an available electronic rear locking differential. When equipped with a manual transmission and a 3.73 rear axle ratio, Wrangler Moab has a crawl ratio of 45:1.

Unique exterior features on the Wrangler Moab include a Mopar power dome hood, premium rock rails, black fuel filler door and tail lamp guards and matching premium black front and rear off-road bumpers. Other exterior touches include the new premium soft top, black wheel arches, a matte black Jeep grille badge and “Moab” decals on the hood. A body-color three-piece hard top is optional.

Interior modifications include black or saddle premium leather seats with black stitching, “Moab” embossed instrument panel grab handle, Mopar slush mats and Iron Gray trim on the vent rings, grab handles and steering wheel spokes.

The Jeep Wrangler Moab is available as a two-door Wrangler or four-door Wrangler Unlimited model available in Crush, Dozer, Rock Lobster, Gecko, Black and Bright White.

Like all 2013 Jeep Wrangler models, the Moab edition features Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, delivering benchmark capability, excellent every-day on-road driving dynamics, and fuel economy up to 21 miles per gallon.
