Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger offer BorgWarner ITM transfer case AWD technology
4th July 2008
BorgWarner, a supplier of engineered systems and components, has announced that the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger vehicles will offer its new InterActive Torque Management transfer case all-wheel-drive technology as optional equipment for the 2009 model year.
InterActive Torque Management transfer case (ITM tc) reportedly offers enhanced response and controllability with reduced noise, vibration and harness in a compact, efficient design.
According to Chrysler, the system is the first active 'on-demand' transfer case to be coupled with an 'on-demand' front-axle disconnect feature, providing all-wheel-drive vehicles with improved fuel economy comparable to that of two-wheel-drive systems.
Tim Manganello, chairman and CEO of BorgWarner, said: "We are proud of our collaborative efforts with Chrysler to launch this new all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that helps improve fuel economy. As a global leader in AWD technology, we are pleased to provide the next generation of Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger drivers with the enhanced vehicle performance, safety and fuel economy that they are seeking in their AWD vehicles."
