Chrysler Canada Reports Best May Sales in 24 Years
42 consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth – longest growth streak in company’s history
29,249 vehicles sold; an increase of 12 per cent over May 2012 sales

Chrysler Canada today announced its 42nd consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, representing the longest sales streak in the company’s history. May 2013 sales were 29,249 compared with 26,218 vehicles sold in May 2012, which represents a 12 per cent increase.
“May was a great month for Chrysler Canada, in fact, it ranked as one of the ‘Top 10’ best sales months in our company’s 88 year history” said Dave Buckingham, Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Canada. ”We recorded best-ever sales results with Ram truck, Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Avenger and Dodge Dart, while growing our passenger car sales by 24 per cent.”
Passenger car sales were up in May of 2013 at Chrysler Canada by 24 per cent, compared with sales results from the same month in 2012. With less than a year under its belt, the all- new Dodge Dart continues to gain momentum in the marketplace, this time with 1,134 sales recorded in May of 2013, marking the compact car’s best sales month since its launch. Canada’s most affordable mid-size sedan, Dodge Avenger, also saw its best month ever in May of 2013 with 1,244 sales, up 26 per cent compared with the same month in 2012 when there were 986 vehicles sold.
Chrysler Minivans continue to satisfy families and consumers of all ages due to the versatility, innovation and value they offer, with Dodge Grand Caravan being the best-selling minivan in Canada, commanding over 50 per cent of the market. In May 2013, the Windsor-built Chrysler Town & Country set an all-time record with 1,112 vehicles sold, up 26 per cent from May of 2012.
Jeep Sport Utility Vehicles also performed well in terms of May 2013 sales. Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass results were up 28 per cent, with 745 and 751 sales respectively, when compared with the same month of 2012, when there were 585 and 580 sales respectively. Jeep Wrangler held onto its spot as the number one selling Compact Sport Utility Vehicle in Canada with 2,152 sales, while Jeep Grand Cherokee was able to take the crown as top seller in the full-size Sport Utility Vehicle category with 1,266 sales.
An all-time sales record was set for Ram trucks in May 2013. Ram 1500, the Canadian truck that delivers best-in-class fuel economy, extraordinary technology and outstanding capability, reported 8,045 trucks sold last month, representing an increase of 22 per cent over May 2012 sales, when 6,596 vehicles were sold. Ram remains the second best-selling vehicle in Canada, out of nearly 300 nameplates.
