Exclamation Chrysler Group LLC has a new name:

12/16/2014

Starting today the company known as Chrysler Group LLC has a new name: FCA US LLC. It’s all part of the changes underway since our parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles came into being in October.

When you see or hear news stories about us, we’ll be properly called FCA US LLC the first time our name appears in the story, but it’s OK if the reporter calls us FCA US on subsequent references.

FCA US LLC covers the company’s operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico as well as our activities in international markets. Really, nothing is changing from the operations side. You may see an executive mentioned with FCA North America on the end of his or her title. That’s because the executive’s responsibilities extend only to North America as opposed to another region or company-wide. It also lets you know that despite the formal name of the company being FCA US, the executive’s responsibilities extend across the entire continent.

What aren’t changing are our strong, historic brands. Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Mopar, Fiat, Alfa Romeo are still the brands that define our great cars, trucks, parts and services. We as a company are as loyal to them as you have been.

When you think about it, when someone changes their name from Smith to Jones for personal or professional reasons, they’re still the same person. The change just makes sense for them. In that vein, our commitment to quality, style, performance and service hasn’t changed, we just have a new name to reflect our role in our new company, and that makes sense.

FCA US employs more than 77,000 employees worldwide, with 96 percent of its workforce based in North America. FCA US operates 36 manufacturing facilities, including 23 in the United States, six in Canada and seven in Mexico.

About FCA US LLC
FCA US LLC is a North American automaker with a new name and a long history. Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, FCA US is a member of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA) family of companies. FCA US designs, engineers, manufactures and sells vehicles under the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and FIAT brands as well as the SRT performance vehicle designation. The company also distributes the Alfa Romeo 4C model and Mopar products. FCA US is building upon the historic foundations of Chrysler, the innovative American automaker first established by Walter P. Chrysler in 1925; and Fiat, founded in Italy in 1899 by pioneering entrepreneurs, including Giovanni Agnelli.

FCA, the seventh-largest automaker in the world based on total annual vehicle sales, is an international automotive group. FCA is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “FCAU" and on the Mercato Telematico Azionario under the symbol “FCA.”

Chrysler changes name for fifth time since 1998

Chrysler changes name for fifth time since 1998

12/17/2014

For the fifth time since 1998, Chrysler Group LLC has a new name.

The automaker announced Tuesday it had changed its company name to FCA US LLC, effectively immediately.

Quote:
“The name change follows our naming convention of the parent company,” said Jodi Tinson, head of manufacturing and labor communications. “So, now that we’ve formed this global company, our name follows suit.”

FCA is an acronym for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and the name change now includes Italian owner Fiat, which completed its 100-percent ownership of Chrysler in January. Fiat has shared ownership of the brand with the health care fund of the United Automobile Workers since 2009, the same year Chrysler accepted bailout funds from the U.S. government.

Other than the aesthetics of the new logo, consumers will see no corporate changes from the company, Tinson explained.

“All the brands stay the same,” she said. “The Chrysler Group was the name of the company, but the Chrysler brand is still the brand. We have brands – Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, Alfa – the brands remain the same. The name of the company simply changes to FCA US LLC and follows the naming convention of the parent company.”

The actual FCA US LLC logo has been in use since October when Chrysler listed itself on the New York Stock Exchange under the same name, so any apprehension about consumer brand association has come and gone, Tinson explained.

Despite the 100-percent ownership by Fiat, 96 percent of FCA US LLC’s 77,000-member workforce still remains in North America, with 23 manufacturing facilities in the United States.

“The name change to FCA US LLC does not affect the company’s headquarters location in Auburn Hills, Michigan, its holdings, management team board or brands,” the company said in a press release Tuesday.

Walter P. Chrysler established Chrysler Corporation in 1925, and that name remained until 1998, when it was renamed DaimlerChrysler AG when it merged with Daimler-Benz AG.

The named changed again in in 2007, this time to Chrysler LLC after the company was sold to Cerberus Capital Management. A minor name tweak came in 2009, to Chrysler Group LLC, the same year Fiat purchased 59 percent of the company.
