Smile Customers Stick to Traditional Car Colors

Customers Stick to Traditional Car Colors
by Catherine Gasior
July 22, 2013

Even with about 90 different colors available, including Detonator Yellow Clear Coat, Rock Lobster Clear Coat (right) and Citrus Peel Pearl Coat, the most popular car colors through July for our 2013 model-year sales are variations of black, white and silver.

While white was the most popular car color in 2012, according to a study by PPG, our customers this year are opting for a darker appeal with Black Clear Coat leading the way. Here are the top five colors among all Chrysler brands:

1. Black Clear Coat
2. Bright White Clear Coat
3. Billet Metallic Clear Coat
4. Deep Cherry Red Crystal Coat
5. Mineral Gray Metallic Clear Coat

Each year, Chrysler introduces new colors to its already diverse color options to allow customers to customize their vehicles to their liking. Each color is carefully examined to ensure it fits within each brand by closely focusing on the brand picture, new trends in colors, technology and outside influences.

“It’s all about the brand. We create colors that will reinforce and accentuate each brand,” Head of Exterior Color & Trim Studio Jim Parker said. “For example, the Dodge Challenger is a muscle car and we aim to keep the heritage of the vehicle by offering lots of colors like HEMI Orange (above), ToRed and Plum Crazy.”

Below are the top five colors for each brand. Check them out and tell us which car colors you prefer in the comment section or on the Chrysler Communications Facebook Page.
