June 6, 2016 , Windsor, Ontario -
Mary Gavrielides of Maple, Ontario, has picked up the keys to her new 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan as the winner of this year’s Dodge Caravan Kids Score & Win Contest. In addition, $5,000 will be donated in Gavrielides’ name to the Richmond Hill Stars House League minor hockey association.
Selecting Gavrielides as the Score & Win Contest winner caps off the 2015-2016 season - and 10th anniversary - of Dodge Caravan Kids. Started in 2006, Dodge Caravan Kids is a joint effort between participating minor hockey associations throughout the country, FCA Canada and Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge, Ram, Fiat retailers. The program provides funding to help subsidize costs like ice time, registration and tournament fees, jersey costs, arena refurbishments and so on for minor league teams.
Gavrielides picked up her new 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan from Sevenview Chrysler in Toronto. She was randomly selected as the Score & Win Contest winner from over 47,000 entries from coast-to-coast received through dodgecaravankids.ca or lesrecruesdodge.ca and over 26,000 received at the Dodge Stow ’n Go Challenge tent at Rogers Hometown Hockey events. Dodge was again a presenting sponsor of the Rogers broadcasts on Sportsnet from 24 Canadian communities.
Said Gavrielides: “It was a real thrill winning the new Dodge Grand Caravan. I'm enjoying driving it. I am so happy I could support such a deserving team as the Richmond Hill Stars House League. Thanks so much to FCA Canada!”
To date, the Dodge Caravan Kids program has provided more than $7 million in funding to over 14,000 minor novice hockey teams, helping more than 210,000 kids enjoy the game of hockey across the country. During the 10th anniversary 2015-2016 season alone, the program supported 2,156 teams with up to $500 in funding and access to exclusive team benefits.
Further, earlier this season two minor hockey teams were announced as winners in the annual Dodge Caravan Kids photo contest. The Panthers de Ken Sud of Shediac, New Brunswick, and the Tiburon 2 of Baie St-Paul, Québec, both won an additional $500.
The Dodge Caravan Kids Photo Contest encourages teams to take a fun photo that incorporates a Dodge Grand Caravan, their local Dodge dealership or a unique “thank you” to Dodge. The contest is open to Canadian minor hockey teams who registered in the Dodge Caravan Kids team sponsorship program and are part of an accredited minor hockey association under the governance of Hockey Canada. Photographs were submitted by more than 2,000 teams from across Canada this season
“Firstly, we want to congratulate Mary on her new Canadian-built Dodge Grand Caravan and her selected minor league hockey association, the Richmond Hill Stars House League,” said William Levasseur, Vice President, Marketing, FCA Canada Inc. “Further, we’re very proud to mark 10 years of our Dodge Caravan Kids program. A decade of combining Canada’s game with Canada’s favourite minivan has proven a win-win, especially for the 210,000 kids we’ve supported.”
