FCA US Reports 2018 December and Full-Year Sales

FCA US reports highest calendar year of retail sales in 17 years
Jeep® brand sets full-year record as sales climb 17 percent
Ram brand notches full-year record as sales climb 7 percent
Dodge Challenger reports full-year record


January 3, 2019 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

FCA US LLC today reported December U.S. sales of 196,520 vehicles, a 14 percent increase compared with sales of 171,946 vehicles in December 2017.

Retail sales for the month rose slightly to 151,077 vehicles. Fleet sales totaled 45,443 vehicles and accounted for 23 percent of total sales during the month.

The Jeep® Wrangler was the standout for the month and the year. Wrangler notched record December sales of 19,800 vehicles and full-year sales of 240,032. The results significantly exceeded the former full-year sales record of 202,266 set in 2015.

For the year, U.S. retail sales were 1,760,488, marking the highest level since 2001 when sales reached 1,833,186 vehicles. Total U.S. sales rose 9 percent to 2,235,204 compared with 2,059,376 vehicles for 2017. Fleet sales accounted for 21 percent of the company’s overall sales in 2018.


“This year’s performance underscores the efforts we undertook to realign our production to give U.S. consumers more Jeep vehicles and Ram pickup trucks,” Head of U.S. Sales Reid Bigland said. “We see sales remaining solid in 2019 and we look forward to expanding our vehicle portfolio with the addition of the much anticipated Jeep Gladiator.”

Jeep Brand

Jeep brand sales rose 10 percent to 80,449 vehicles in December. For the year, sales increased 17 percent to a record 973,227 vehicles, eclipsing the last record of 926,376 vehicles in 2016.

The Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass joined the Wrangler in setting new records for December and the year. Cherokee sales rose 7 percent to 20,800 vehicles. For the year, sales were 239,437 vehicles. Compass sales rose 46 percent to 12,745 in December. For the year, sales were 171,167, which beat the previous record of 94,601 set in 2016.

Ram Brand

Ram brand sales rose 37 percent in December to 68,195 vehicles. For the year, sales hit a new record of 597,368 vehicles. The Ram 1500 – the Most Awarded Full-size Truck – drove the performance as total sales climbed 15 percent to 377,286 vehicles for a new record. Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City reported the best December ever. ProMaster sales rose 75 percent to 5,857 vehicles while ProMaster City sales increased 35 percent to 2,183 vehicles.

Dodge Brand
Dodge brand December sales rose 17 percent to 32,528 vehicles. For the year, Challenger sales rose 3 percent to 66,716 which is a new record for the nameplate. The previous record was 66,377 in 2015.

Alfa Romeo Brand

Alfa Romeo brand December sales fell 4 percent to 1,946 vehicles. Alfa Romeo’s 2018 annual sales rose to a record 23,820, which was almost twice as much as the brand sold in 2017. Both Stelvio and Giulia finished the year notching more than 11,500 vehicle sales.

Chrysler Brand

Chrysler brand December sales fell 28 percent to 12,425 vehicles. However, the Pacifica reported higher year-over-year results as vehicle sales totaled 118,322. Overall, the brand has seen some softening during the year following the continued wind-down of the Chrysler 200 and the Town & Country.

FIAT Brand

Fiat December sales declined 44 percent to 977 vehicles in December. Fiat finished the year with 15,521 vehicle sales.

FCA Canada Reports December and Full Year Sales Record for Jeep® Wrangler

January 3, 2019 , Windsor, Ontario -

FCA Canada reported 11,923 vehicles sold for the month of December 2018. The Company continues its strategy of reducing sales to the daily rental segment.

For the year, FCA Canada reported total sales of 224,889 vehicles. Ram was the top performer for FCA Canada, with 89,562 sales. Jeep® sold 71,583 vehicles, representing the third-best sales year in the brand's history and a sales increase of 2 per cent compared with the year prior.



Jeep Brand
Jeep brand reported sales of 4,002 vehicles for the month of December. Leading the charge for the brand was Jeep Wrangler, setting a December record with 1,445 sales, an increase of 38 per cent over December 2017 results. For the calendar year, Jeep Wrangler set a record with 24,615 vehicles sold, up 42 per cent from 2017. Jeep Compass sales of 9,435 vehicles were up 46 per cent for the year.

Chrysler Brand
Chrysler brand reported 219 sales for the month. For the calendar year, Chrysler brand reported sales of 9,511 vehicles.

Dodge Brand

Dodge brand reported 2,316 sales for the month. For the calendar year, Dodge brand reported sales of 52,186 vehicles. Dodge Durango full year sales of 6,951 vehicles were up 7 per cent from 2017, while Dodge Challenger sales of 4,918 were up 1 per cent.

Ram Truck Brand

Ram truck brand reported 5,325 sales for the month. Ram 1500 sales of 4,377 trucks are up 4 per cent for the month, compared with December 2017. Ram ProMaster van sales of 247 vehicles are up 3 per cent over December 2017. For the calendar year, Ram brand reported sales of 89,562 vehicles.

Alfa Romeo Brand

Alfa Romeo brand reported 43 sales for the month. For the calendar year, there were 1,402 Alfa Romeo brand sales, up 26 per cent from the year prior.

In December, FCA México recorded sales of 7,388 units. Full year sales were 88,083 units.

"2018 was a year with important launches that became trend in their respective segments. Among these is the iconic Jeep® Wrangler, the most capable 4x4 in its class; Jeep Cherokee 2019, the most capable medium SUV in the market; Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the most powerful all-terrain vehicle in its history; Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the first SUV of the brand; Ram 1500 2019, the most luxurious pickup in its segment. We also achieved sales records, which were only possible thanks to our product portfolio,” said Bruno Cattori, President & CEO of FCA México. “We will continue working on each brand to continue at the farefront with our products and attract new customers,” Cattori added.

Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo recorded sales of 16 units. Full year sales were 275 units.

In 2018 the brand had one of the most important launches with the arrival of the first Alfa Romeo SUV, Stelvio, a vehcile known by its iconic Italian design and great power.

Chrysler
Chrysler sold 89 units, a 16 percent increase versus December 2017 and the best sales month of the year. In 2018 Chrysler sold 544 units.

Chrysler Pacifica sales improved 26 percent compared to December 2017.

During 2018 Chrysler Pacifica increased its product lineup in the Mexican market by adding Chrysler Pacifica Limited, the entry-level version of this vehicle.

Dodge

In December Dodge sold 2,061 units. Full year sales of the brand were 26,250 units.

Dodge Attitude, the sales leader of the brand, sold 1,263 units. The muscle car Dodge Charger achieved best full year sales since 2014. Dodge Challenger sales increased 39 percent versus December 2017 and marked the best sales month of 2018. Dodge Journey, a vehicle with great versatility and interior space, sold 296 units.

In 2018 Dodge lauched Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody and Dodge Challeneger SRT Hellcat Redeye, becoming the most powerful muscle car family.

FIAT
FIAT sold 1,017 units, up 1 percent versus December 2017. Full year sales of the brand were of 9,938 units.

Fiat Mobi achieved sales of 423 units, up 3 percent compared to December 2017. Fiat Palio Adventure sales increased 13 percent versus December 2017.

Jeep
Jeep continued its positive streak by registering 1,013 units sold. From January to December 2018, this brand has increased its sales 1 percent versus the same period in 2017 with 12,797 units.

Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass sales increased 145 percent and 1 percent, respectively, versus December 2017.

In 2018 Jeep had three important launches in Mexico: Jeep Wrangler, the most capable 4x4 in its class; Jeep Cherokee 2019, the most capable medium SUV in the market; Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the most powerful all-terrain vehicle in the history. Besides these important launches, special editions and new versions were introduced to the Jeep brand.

Mitsubishi Motors
Mitsubishi Motors Mexico recorded sales of 1,277 units. Full year sales of the brand were 14,061 units.

Mitsubishi Mirage sales rose 18 percent compared to December 2017 with 771 units.

RAM
RAM brand sold in December 1,915 units. Full year sales of the brand were of 24,218 units.

In the RAM Commercial Division, Ram 700 sales increased 9 percent versus December 2017. Full year sales of Ram ProMaster Rapid increased 27 percent versus 2017.
