State-of-the-art powertrain enables 87 miles of class-leading range
Designed to be a Fiat 500 first and foremost, this no-compromise electric vehicle (EV) builds on the Cinquecento’s successful small-car formula, while adding a liquid heated/cooled battery-electric powertrain that produces 111 horsepower (83 kW) and recharges in less than 4 hours with its 6.6 kW on-board charging module (OBCM) connected to a Level 2 energy source (220 volts).

When put to through its paces, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rated the aerodynamically styled Fiat 500e with a 108 Highway MPGe rating and class-leading 87 miles of combined city and highway driving range. And thanks to this Cinquecento’s regenerative braking system, drivers will typically exceed 100 miles of driving range in the city – all without any tailpipe emissions.

Drives like a Fiat 500 that happens to be electric
Making sure the new 2014 Fiat 500e delivers world-class EV handling and braking performance, engineers designed a unique chassis and suspension for the EV powertrain, while further solidifying the engaging European driving dynamics the FIAT brand and Cinquecento are known for.

Unique in the EV segment is the Fiat 500e’s innovative “blended braking” system. Unlike other EV’s in the market that have an aggressive and unwanted “drag” feeling when lifting off the accelerator pedal, the 2014 Fiat 500e is designed to feel like a regular gasoline-powered Cinquecento, while still immediately regenerating. In most cases, the Fiat 500e uses 100% of its regenerative braking capability all the way down to 8 mph to maximize the vehicle’s efficiency, while enabling longer-life of the brakes. The system also provides a more consistent and confident brake-pedal feel.

A unique lower-body structure design provides packaging and protection for the 2014 Fiat 500e’s battery, while delivering a 10 percent improvement in bending stiffness. In addition, the design change from internal combustion to battery-electric enabled the Fiat 500e to reproportion its weight for a 57/43 (compared to Fiat 500’s 64/36) front-to-rear weight distribution to improve handling performance. The result is a Cinquecento with a tighter and stiffer feel, and an added sense of confidence and control during higher speed maneuvers.

Efficient and simple retro-futuristic styling
The 2014 Fiat 500e pushes its iconic Italian design forward with its wind-tunnel-sculpted shape and retro-futuristic dot-matrix styled cues for a cutting-edge look. To achieve a 13 percent improvement in aerodynamics (0.311 coefficient of drag (Cd) compared to the Fiat 500 Lounge’s 0.359 Cd), the Fiat 500e features eight exterior enhancements developed via more than 140 hours of wind tunnel testing and refinement. The result, a purposeful design that enables this Cinquecento to achieve an additional five miles of range on the highway.

Inside, Fiat 500e fuses retro-futuristic design with unique EV technology elements for an environment comprised of simplicity with innovation. Its unique 7-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) instrument cluster displays full-color picture graphics to illustrate vehicle functions, charge levels and trip summary. In addition, an EV-specific TomTom Navigation unit enables the driver to view the vehicle’s charge schedule, range, and power-flow gauges, and can even locate nearby charging stations with real-time availability. Below its instrument panel bezel, the Fiat 500e also includes a uniquely designed electronic shifter with easy-to-use push-button transmission mode selection. For added style, the interior environment is available in Nero (black) or exclusive Steam (white) both highlighted by Arancio Electrico (Electric Orange) to bring even more design character to this Cinquecento.

EV-specific sound-deadening materials enable a 20 percent quieter interior
With 2014 Fiat 500e’s electric powertrain, this electrified Cinquecento also includes 13 product-specific improvements aiding in the vehicle’s reduction in interior cabin noise while driving. These NVH improvements include:

FIAT Access provides real-time vehicle information
Keeping passengers of the Fiat 500e connected to vehicle information is the FIAT Access smartphone app (compatible with iPhone and Android) with three years of connected services included that enables real-time vehicle status, manages charging, tracks the driver’s energy use, locates the vehicle and nearby charging stations, plans and sends routes to the vehicle and provides text-message and email alerts.

FIAT ePass provides an ownership experience with added flexibility
For those times when a 500e customer needs to drive beyond the vehicle’s range or needs the carrying capability of a larger vehicle, the 2014 Fiat 500e provides an alternative transportation plan called the Fiat 500e Pass program.

The FIAT brand and Enterprise Holdings, owner and operator of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent-A-Car, and National Car Rental brands, partnered on the Fiat 500e Pass program, which provides purchasers and lessees of a new 500e up to 12 days of alternate transportation each year for the first three years after the date of purchase.

The Fiat 500e Pass program is offered by FIAT exclusively in the U.S. to 500e customers as a standard feature. Through the program 500e customers will have access to vehicles such as the gas-powered Fiat 500, the coming Fiat 500L, the all-new Dodge Dart or the Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan. In addition, customers will have the flexibility to upgrade to a larger vehicle such as a minivan or a pickup truck subject to terms of the program.

The program will be valid at any Enterprise, Alamo or National car rental location throughout the U.S. Enterprise has more than 6,200 locations in the U.S. making the use of the Fiat 500e Pass easy and convenient for FIAT’s customers.

When purchasers of a new 500e enroll in the Fiat 500e Pass program, Enterprise will provide them with an account number. For the first three years after purchase, each unique customer account will be allocated enough credits on the anniversary of their purchase date to provide 12 days of alternate transportation. The Fiat 500e Passes include unlimited mileage on eligible vehicles.

The 500e owner only has to choose an eligible vehicle and the expense of the vehicle including applicable taxes will be covered subject to the terms and conditions of the program. Customers may choose to upgrade to a larger vehicle by utilizing additional credits or by separately paying for the difference.

The FIAT brand has partnered with one of Instagram’s first and most active creator communities, #JJ, to commission its founder and top photographers to embark on a photo-documented open road adventure in the new Fiat 500L. The road trip began yesterday, Sept. 17, at the FIAT Studio in Chicago and will make stops in Detroit, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., and finally New York City on Sat., Sept. 21. During the five-day road trip, the #JJ team will issue five photo challenges as part of the “Open Road Challenge” contest and will host local meet-ups (InstaMeets) at designated destinations along the route. Participants who submit photos to the challenges will have a chance to win a 2014 Fiat 500L.

“Our consumers love to express themselves, which is often the reason why they choose a FIAT brand vehicle,” stated Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand North America, Chrysler Group LLC. “We want to encourage self-expression and this is why we developed the “Open Road Challenge” in partnership with the #JJ community, to reward the artistic curiosity and creativity of their followers.”

Now through Sat., Sept. 21, the #JJ team will announce a daily photo challenge via the @joshjohnson Instagram account. To participate, entrants must upload a photo that reflects the daily theme to Instagram. At the conclusion of the road trip, the #JJ team will select up to three images from each of the daily challenges, for a total of 15 images, to feature for public voting on the FIAT USA Facebook page. From Thurs., Sept. 26 to Thurs., Oct. 10, these top photos will be available for public voting on the Open Road Challenge tab on the official FIAT USA Facebook page. A combination of public votes and judges’ scores will determine the grand prize winner of the Open Road Challenge contest and he or she will take home a 2014 Fiat 500L. Additionally, fans who vote in the contest will have the opportunity to win one of four $500 gift cards.

With five InstaMeets scheduled throughout the road trip and a special after-glow party, the FIAT brand is bringing to the more than 400,000 loyal followers of the #JJ community the unique opportunity to meet and participate in photo walks alongside the #JJ team. FIAT of San Francisco is the First FIAT Studio to Open in the City

FIAT of San Francisco, the first FIAT studio to locate in The City by the Bay, is open for business in the Van Ness Avenue corridor.

There now are six FIAT studios in the Bay Area, but FIAT of San Francisco is the first to open for business within the city itself. This newest FIAT studio is located at 1595 Van Ness Ave. on the edge of San Francisco’s famed Pacific Heights neighborhood.

“The opening of FIAT of San Francisco is an important step for continuing the growth of our brand in the United States,” said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC. “We have FIAT studios in the region, but having a presence right in the city, where our Fiat 500 has been so popular, will make it easier for our customers to do business with us. This is the ideal location, in the fashionable Pacific Heights area, for our first studio in San Francisco.”

With FIAT of San Francisco now open, the FIAT brand now has 209 studios in the United States. The FIAT brand launched the Fiat 500 in the U.S. in early 2011, and began selling the larger Fiat 500L in June and the all-electric Fiat 500e in the state of California in July.

FIAT of San Francisco is located in an historic building built in 1914 that once housed a Buick dealership, and more recently, a Ford dealership. The Van Ness Avenue corridor has long been known as the city’s “Auto Row.”

Scott Ginsburg and Gregory Minor, the dealership principals, also have owned San Francisco Ferrari Maserati in nearby Mill Valley, Calif. since 2009.

“The timing is perfect to open a FIAT studio in the city,” said Minor. “The new four-door Fiat 500L and the all-electric 500e just recently went on sale in California and are going to be huge hits. The San Francisco market is so green conscious, our entire product lineup of 500 and 500L models will do well in the city and at this prime location.”

FIAT of San Francisco is utilizing all four floors of the historic building, with the service department located on the top floor. The building includes a courtyard that will be utilized for customer-valued off-street parking.

The state of California is Fiat’s largest market in the U.S. In the Bay Area, the brand currently has five locations in Burlingame, Berkeley, Concord, Fremont and San Jose.

FIAT Brand

FIAT brand sales were down 24 percent in September, compared with the same month a year ago. But 2013 has been a good year for the FIAT brand in the United States. The brand added the larger Fiat 500L and the Fiat 500e all-electric models to its product lineup, and until September, the brand realized 18-consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth.

The Celebrity Fiat 500e “Into the Green” Charity Auction kicked off this past Saturday night (10/12) at the Dolby Theatre during the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) “One Night Only” Special Benefit Concert, hosted by Hugh Jackman. During the evening’s festivities, the first of 10 all-electric Fiat 500e vehicles, personalized by some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities, was auctioned LIVE at the event. The Fiat 500e, personalized by Hugh Jackman, received a winning bid of $50,000. The auction features nine additional Fiat 500e vehicles on eBay Motors at FIAT 500e MPTF eBay Store About My Store. Proceeds will benefit MPTF.

The Celebrity Fiat 500e “Into the Green” Charity Auction features vehicles personalized by Jennifer Lawrence, Clint Eastwood, Anne Hathaway, Ron Howard, Barbra Streisand, Hans Zimmer, Kate Hudson, Will.i.am and Ryan Friedlinghaus. Each of the vehicles has an etched signature on the FIAT glove box by the celebrity. The 10-day FIAT auction began at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET on Sat., Oct. 12, and ends on Tues., Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. To join the online auction of the nine Fiat 500e vehicles go to FIAT 500e MPTF eBay Store About My Store. All the funds raised during the event and ensuing auctions will benefit MPTF. (Winning bidders pick up their vehicles at Orange Coast FIAT in Costa Mesa, Calif.)

The FIAT "Into the Green" program, created in November 2012, was designed with the aim of promoting and raising awareness of the all-electric Fiat 500e. The VIP program loaned a Fiat 500e for periods of up to three months beginning in April. All proceeds from the Celebrity Fiat 500e “Into the Green” Charity Auction will support MPTF in providing its services of healthcare, financial relief and retirement living to the more than 150,000 people it helps yearly.

Grand Opening - FIAT of San Francisco

Approximately 300 people attended yesterday the grand opening of FIAT of San Francisco, the first FIAT studio located in The City by the Bay.

Treated with some of the best Italian wines, food and espressos, visitors had a chance to explore the all-new four-door Fiat 500L, the high-performance Fiat 500 Abarth, the fully-electric Fiat 500e and the classic Fiat 500. Different personalities, including Mr. Mauro Battocchi, Consul of Italy in San Francisco, attended the grandopening.

“This was a great opportunity to connect first-hand with potential customers and fans and to share with them in a relaxed and personal atmosphere all the things that our brand and vehicles have to offer,” said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC.

California accounts for more than 20 percent of FIAT brand sales, and there are now six FIAT studios in the Bay Area. FIAT of San Francisco is the first to open for business within the city itself. The studio is located at 1595 Van Ness Ave. on the edge of San Francisco’s famed Pacific Heights neighborhood.

Scott Ginsburg and Gregory Minor, the dealership principals, also have owned San Francisco Ferrari Maserati in nearby Mill Valley, Calif., since 2009.

“This is a prime location, and we have a prime brand in our hands,” said Minor. “This grand opening was part of our plan to generate awareness and to make sure that everyone in the area knows that a new FIAT studio is open for business.”

With FIAT of San Francisco now open, the FIAT brand now has 210 studios in the United States. The FIAT brand launched the Fiat 500 in the U.S. in early 2011 and began selling the larger Fiat 500L in June and the all-electric Fiat 500e in the state of California in July.
