The seating systems will be fitted in 120,000 vehicles a year. The seats will be installed in Jeep Wrangler by the middle of June 2009
Chrysler plans to outsource the seating systems for its Jeep Wrangler to Krishna-Maruti (KML), worth $100mn and would br fitted in 120,000 vehicles per annum, it is a part of Chrysler's plans to source more from low-cost countries like India and China, said leading business daily.
Daily also said that Krishna Maruti will be able to supply quality seats to Chrysler at a lower cost as compared to its earlier supplier and the seats will be installed in Jeep Wrangler by mid-June 2009. This order will help KML to launch its product in North America.
Chrysler is also setting up its engineering presence in India as well as other developing markets like China, Mexico and Eastern Europe.
KML is a joint venture between Japan's Suzuki Motor, Maruti Udyog and Ashok Kapur & Associates, adds daily.
