Scat Packs to be available beginning in the Spring of 2014

April 3, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

Dodge owners who want to upgrade their vehicles with new Scat Pack performance stage kits, first unveiled by Dodge and Mopar last November at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, can do so with confidence that the vehicle warranty will remain unaffected.

In an industry-first for such high-level performance modifications offered by an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), the factory warranty will be maintained on 2014 Dodge Challenger and Charger vehicles modified with the Scat Pack 1, Scat Pack 2 and Scat Pack 3 performance stage kits with installation at an authorized dealer.

"The Scat Pack factory stage kits can help boost 5.7-liter HEMI performance up to an additional 58 horsepower and 47 lb.-ft. of torque, allowing Dodge enthusiasts to extract the maximum performance from their vehicles without the fear and guesswork typically associated with modifying late-model vehicles," said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge Brand. "And now with a warranty guarantee, they can do so with the peace of mind that their manufacturer's warranty remains intact."

“The new Scat Pack kits reinforce our commitment to the performance arena,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “By maintaining the vehicle warranty, we are demonstrating to customers our confidence in the kits, which were built to exactly complement the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger by working hand-in-hand with the engineers who use factory specs to create these vehicles — exclusive knowledge available only to Mopar.”

Mopar and Dodge also revealed specifics on pricing and performance benchmarks for the trio of Scat Pack performance stage kit options. The Scat Pack 3 stage kit will provide a boost of nearly 60 horsepower and close to 50 lb.-ft. of torque — numbers currently unmatched by any OEM without the use of a forced-induction system.

The Scat Pack 1, 2 and 3 performance stage kits will be available beginning this spring with a starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $2,195 for the Stage 1 kit, $1,895 for the Stage 2 kit and $4,995 for the Stage 3 kit. Each Scat Pack kit includes a numbered hard badge associated with its performance stage, so enthusiasts can proudly display the emblem on their vehicle as a badge of honor.

The Scat Pack 1 performance stage kit for the 2014 Dodge Challenger and 2014 Dodge Charger achieves a boost of up to 18 horsepower and 18 lb.-ft. of torque through modifications including a Mopar cold-air intake to provide increased air-flow into the engine, Mopar cat-back exhaust to free up downstream airflow, and an all-new performance calibrated engine controller, optimized to the 5.7-liter HEMI® engine.

For the 5.7-liter HEMI, Scat Pack 2 adds up to a 30 horsepower bump and is geared towards the performance enthusiast looking for that competitive edge. In addition to a customized, optimized performance calibration feature tailored for Scat Pack 2, a new Mopar performance camshaft works in conjunction with the components of the Scat Pack 1 kit to take advantage of improved engine breathing and deliver an additional acceleration advantage.

Scat Pack 3 takes aim squarely at the competitive enthusiast looking for extreme performance and ultimate bragging rights. Huge gains of up to 58 horsepower and 47 lb.-ft. of torque are realized through customized, optimized performance calibration tailored for Scat Pack 3, new Mopar performance CNC-ported cylinder heads and Mopar hi-flow headers.

Following is pricing, performance and parts details for the Scat Pack 1, Scat Pack 2 and Scat Pack 3 performance upgrade kits available for the 2014 Dodge Challenger and 2014 Dodge Charger:

“Scat Pack” Lawsuit

Chrysler Group is being sued by a California aftermarket company

10/17/2014

DETROIT -- Dodge’s attempts to revive its muscle car-era “Scat Pack” trims may have stepped in it in the process.

Chrysler Group is being sued by a California aftermarket company for infringing on its nearly 50-year-old "Scat" trademark on the Dodge Challenger and other vehicles.

The lawsuit -- filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in California -- revives a trademark dispute between Scat Enterprises Inc., and Chrysler that dates back to 1968.

Chrysler today vowed to defend its use of the "Scat Pack" name.

Quote:
In a written statement, Chrysler said Scat Enterprises' lawsuit was "a meritless and opportunistic attempt to hold Chrysler hostage just days before the upcoming SEMA show. Chrysler will vigorously defend itself against this attack and look to enforce its own rights in this moniker."

Scat Enterprises is a 51-year-old performance parts maker in Redondo Beach, Calif., that makes crankshafts and other parts for Dodge and other brand vehicles.

Scat’s lawsuit alleges that Chrysler infringed on its long-held trademarked name in 2013, when the brand revived its Scat Pack trims for the Dodge Challenger.

In 1968, Dodge first used a Scat Pack name on the Charger R/T, Coronet R/T, Dart GTS and the SuperBee. That year, Scat Enterprises sent a cease-and-desist letter to the automaker attempting to defend its trademark, the lawsuit contends. Dodge stopped using the Scat Pack name in 1971.

Trademark battle

In August 2013, Chrysler applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to revive the Scat Pack name, three months before it revealed its first Scat Pack Challenger at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas.

Chrysler’s request was denied by the USPTO, but the automaker proceeded anyway. The lawsuit says negotiations between Scat Enterprises and Chrysler Group to resolve the current dispute have been unsuccessful.

Dodge brand head Tim Kuniskis has championed the resurrection of the Scat Pack name since taking over Dodge in April 2013.

Kuniskis, who owns a 1971 Challenger, has said that he believes the 6.4-liter Scat Pack version of the refreshed 2015 Dodge Challenger will be a high-volume trim level for the muscle car. Dodge also maintains a website, Scatpackforums.com, to market its Scat Pack trim levels.

In its lawsuit, Scat Enterprises asked the court to prohibit the automaker from using its Scat name, to deliver to Scat Enterprises all of the Dodge Scat Pack marketing materials, badges and other items for destruction, and for monetary damages.

Interestingly, in today's statement, Chrysler's extensive written comments made special note of the trademark status of both Dodge® and Scat Pack™.

See Chrysler's full written statement below:

"Dodge® made Scat Pack™ what it is today. In 1968, Chrysler re-envisioned its Dodge® Charger R/T, Coronet R/T, and Dart GTS vehicles by offering high-performance, redesigned versions under the Scat Pack™ moniker. Marketplace interest was immediate and enthusiastic, making the Dodge® Scat Pack™ hugely successful from 1968 to 1971. The brand has remained legendary in the enthusiast community since then and consumers still associate Scat Pack™ with Chrysler's vehicles, and no other business or products. Scat Enterprises, an aftermarket supplier of crankshafts, connecting rods, and rotating assemblies marketing under the term "Scat", has never used the term "Scat Pack". Scat Enterprises' lawsuit against Chrysler over Chrysler's 2014-15 Scat Pack™ vehicles is a meritless and opportunistic attempt to hold Chrysler hostage just days before the upcoming SEMA show. Chrysler will vigorously defend itself against this attack and look to enforce its own rights in this moniker."

Scat Pack. For Dodge owners

03/23/2015

The Scat Pack. For Dodge owners and fans, the name is a blast from the past (1970s), but that same name now marks extraordinary performance (and affordable) versions of the 2015 Challenger and Charger. Is it possible to merge the best of both Scat Pack eras? Richard Rawlings and Aaron Kaufman -- the Gas Monkey Garage duo -- are just the guys to try! The work begins tonight with the season premiere of "Fast N' Loud" on the Discovery channel at 9 p.m. Eastern. Watch it tonight, or set the DVR

Orders Open for Mopar Scat Pack Upgrade Kits

Focused on Performance: Orders Open for Mopar Scat Pack 2 and 3 Performance Upgrade Kits

Mopar opens ordering for Scat Pack 2 and Scat Pack 3 performance kits for the 5.7L HEMI® engine-equipped Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger
Scat Pack 2 and Scat Pack 3 kits help customers add horsepower to their ride, taking it from the road to the track with extreme performance gains of up to 75 horsepower
Power levels exceed original estimated targets due to extensive factory optimization

June 26, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

Following the successful introduction of the Scat Pack 1 performance kit, a special package developed for the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, Mopar is going even further by opening orders for the new Scat Pack 2 and Scat Pak 3 kits, helping more customers transform their vehicles from daily drivers into track-ready rides.

“We continue to deliver on our performance mission by inspiring our owners with extreme personalization and exclusive performance package options,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO — Mopar Brand Service, Parts and Customer Care, FCA. “Our kits are engineered together with the same teams that create factory-authorized specifications for our vehicles, providing our customers not only outstanding performance but also peace of mind.”

Mopar Scat Pack 2 Performance Kit

The Mopar Scat Pack 2 performance upgrade kit is geared toward the performance enthusiast looking for an extra competitive edge in their 5.7L HEMI® engine, taking vehicles off the street and putting them on the track. The kit offers a new Mopar Performance camshaft that works in conjunction with the components of the Scat Pack 1 kit, further improving the breathing of the engine to deliver an additional acceleration advantage.

Also included is a set of Mopar Performance valve springs, tie bars, upgraded pushrods and all the gaskets. The kit delivers a performance upgrade while also preserving the factory warranty. Two Scat Pack 2 badges complete the package to put on display and tease what is lurking under the hood.

The Scat Pack 2 performance numbers have exceeded the previously announced 30 horsepower that was initially expected due to extensive optimization by Mopar Performance engineers. As a result, the addition of a Scat Pack 2 kit to a ride can provide as much as an additional 56 horsepower and 30 lb-ft of torque from the stock engine. These numbers are corrected to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) J1349 standard conditions, which means these are true power increases.

The Scat Pack 2 performance kit for 2011-2015 Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger vehicles with the 5.7L HEMI is now available through an authorized dealership for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,895.

Mopar Scat Pack 3 Performance Kit

The Mopar Scat Pack 3 Performance kit is specifically tailored for the competitive enthusiast looking for extreme performance and ultimate bragging rights.

As the final building block in the 5.7L Scat Pack family, Scat Pack 3 puts the finishing touches on gains realized by Scat Pack 1 and 2. With the addition of new Mopar Performance CNC-ported cylinder heads, Mopar hi-flow manifolds and hi-flow catalysts, drivers will reap the benefits of up to 75 more horsepower and 44 lb-ft of torque with this made-for-the-track upgrade.

The performance upgrade kit also includes a gasket set, exhaust manifolds, exhaust adapter, mounting brackets, hardware and two Scat Pack 3 badges. Like Scat Pack 2, the Scat Pack 3 kit boosts performance while maintaining the factory warranty.

The Scat Pack 3 for 2011-2015 Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger vehicles is now available for a MSRP of $4,495 through an authorized dealership.

Installation of the Scat Pack 2 and Scat Pack 3 kits requires a revised calibration provided by Arrow Racing.
