Fiat Posts Best October In Over A Decade

Fiat Chrysler’s October sales rose 22%, as nine of the company’s brands reported their best-ever October sales

Published: November 3, 2014

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCAU) continues to surprise investors, posting double digit monthly sales growth for the eighth consecutive month, and surpassing the Street’s estimate yet again.

Quote:
The automaker posted a 22% year-over-year (YoY) increase in unit sales for October to 170,480 units, up from 140,083 units sold in the same month last year, beating analysts’ expectation of a 20% growth. This marks the best October sales for Fiat since 2001.

The better-than-expected numbers came on the back of increased demand for pick-up trucks, resulting from lower gasoline prices. Nine of Chrysler’s brands marked their best ever October sales.

Its value-driver brand, Jeep, posted 52% increase in sales for October to 55,198 units, the highest growth amongst all other brands. Ram trucks came in second, with sales rising 36% to 42,499 units. The Chrysler brand managed to record sales of 27,456 units, representing a 17% increase over last year's October, while Fiat reported 1% higher sales to 3,725 units.

Despite the strong numbers, Fiat's stock is down 1.9% in the first thirty minutes of trading today. Since its IPO, the stock has risen 26.46%.
