2011 dodge nitro mode door

Trying to figure out what is going on with on with air on my nitro. It blows air at the head and defrost but when I place it on the feet it comes out the defrost

I witnessed the mode door actuator turning the round dial so not sure what is going on

I went in through the front console by taking the radio out and can feel the damper moving just not sure why it doesn’t come out at the feet

Hi Greg54

The A/C and Heater controls on the Nitro are hard to understand so maybe it is only not set correctly. Hopefully this could be a real fix at no cost.

Pressing the Recirculation Control button will put the system in recirculation mode.

Air Conditioning Control

Press this button to engage the Air Conditioning. A light will illuminate when the Air Conditioning System is engaged. Rotating the dial left into the blue area of the scale indicates cooler temperatures while rotating right into the red area indicates warmer temperatures.

MAX A/C

For maximum cooling use the A/C and recirculation buttons at the same time.
I use this setting anytime I have the air on.

The other problem could be that the deflector door inside the housing is broken or jammed, This is more of a project and if you determine this may be the issue let us know since that is also covered here and I will direct you to that Thread.

Good Luck and let us know what you find.

Thanks
I think the deflector is broken inside the housing as you mentioned

I don have a problem with the ac or heater; it just won’t come out the feet

There are two actuators; does the bottom one have anything to do with it coming out the foot

I see the top one moving when I go from defrost to panel, it is just has nothing comes out at the feet

Floor

Air is directed through the floor outlets with a small amount flowing through the defrost and side window demist outlets.

Mix

Air is directed through the floor, defrost, and side window demist outlets. This setting works best in cold or snowy conditions that require extra heat to the windshield. This setting is good for maintaining comfort while reducing moisture on the windshield.

Doesn’t really address the situation I am having

When turning from defrost to floor vent, I am witnessing the mode door actuator turning

The link arm doesn’t move but when I place on blowing air out the dash, the actuator continues to rotate and the link arm moves to direct air out accordingly

After driving the Nitro today when really hot (93) and humid here in Indiana Wife only wanted the air at dash level with the louvers pointed at her on passenger side. Not sure why you would want the A/C blowing on your feet instead. I put the controls on feet and I too could not feel the A/C. Blowing into your face with blower set on high and BOTH yellow buttons pushed in and lite, works for us. Even had the sunroof cracked open.
