drivers door hinge spring

is there a way to install the small hinge spring that hoods in the open position, it fell out the other day and now the door wont stay open..

If the spring fell out it must be broken or the hinge is. In the old days you would shim the spring open using metal shims, then pull them out one-by-one in place to re-install. Today you purchase a new or used hinge assembly.
