Engine on Start Up

I just got my 2nd hand Nitro yesterday and wondered if the engine start up / turnover is normal - I am used to a more 'aggressive/powerful' start up in my Landcruiser Colorado and the noise this morning on turnover was that it seemed to struggle.

It was a fairly cold morning/night - so I am hoping its because of the cold!?

Welcome sp4jeff!

Yes Nitro start-up is different than my other vehicle, but I sure would have the battery checked out! Thanks for checking in and good luck with your new Nitro.

Welcome to the forum. What you are describing is not normal. I would have the battery checked; the Nitro does no do well with low voltage! Make sure that your engine has the factory recommended oil weight in it. Too thick oil will make it tougher to turn the oil pump.

well I noticed one thing in the starting department about my Nitro....there is a noticeable lag (like a quarter/half second) between twisting the key and the starter starting to crank.....funny thing that, never experienced this in any other vehicle before
