Are you using your hands and touching the bulb when replacing? Use latex gloves if so.

Welcome to the forum. As Rick mentioned, the oil from your hands/fingers will create a hot spot on the bulb, and cause premature failure. Did you actually change it, or did someone else do it? Watch whomever changes it - some halogen bulbs come with a cotton glove.

Dodge Nitro Headlight Bulb Replacement

Dodge Nitro Headlight Bulb Replacement

Published on Jul 23, 2012

A quick video on how to change the headlights for a Dodge Nitro. My Dodge Nitro is a 2008, but they should all be about the same since there aren't any major differences between the years.

WARNING: make sure not to touch the glass of the new headlight. The oils on your skin may cause it to burst under the hot operating temperatures of the light bulb.

Headlight Change 2007-2011 Dodge Nitro

Headlight Change 2007-2011 Dodge Nitro

Video Description

The video above shows you to replace the headlight in your 2010 Dodge Nitro. Headlights grow dimmer by up to 20% over time and eventually burn out - for this reason, we recommend changing your headlights in pairs. Changing both headlight bulbs on your Nitro at the same time will allow both bulbs to have the same intensity and prevent the new headlight bulb from appearing brighter than the bulb on the opposite side. In some Dodges, the highbeam is the same bulb as the headlight and it is possible for the highbeam to work, but the headlight be burnt out even if they are the same bulb (and vise versa). Some Dodges have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. These bulbs have a very high voltage that runs through them, even if the battery is disconnected. If your Nitro has this type of bulb, we do not recommend that you attempt to change it yourself.

When you change the headlight on your Nitro, it is important to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers because the oil from your fingertips will cause that part of the bulb to burn hotter, which significantly shortens the life of the bulb.

First of all clean those bulbs and after that check properly if there's no oil at bulbs. Again check by lightening the ignition. When ever we are doing DIY this sort of stuff could possibly happen.

I also have heard that touching the lamp with bare fingers can cause damage. Some even use latex gloves when they change their headlights.
