GM TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) New Warranty

GM will fix the rough idle on some of its V-8-powered SUVs and pickup trucks.

0703/2014

Quote:
The vehicles involved in this technical service bulletin include the following:

2008 - 2009 Chevy TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy
2008 - 2009 HUMMER H2
2008 - 2009 Saab 9-7X
2008 - 2010 HUMMER H3
2009 - 2010 HUMMER H3T
2008 - 2011 Cadillac Escalade, ESV, and EXT
2008 - 2011 Chevy Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, and Tahoe
2008 - 2011 GMC Savanna, Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL
2009 - 2011 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon

These vehicles may have a condition where the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) may cause the engine to run roughly, illuminate the check engine light and/or exhibit reduced engine power. This could be dangerous if the TPS fails while driving the vehicle at highway speeds during high traffic flow.

The fix

GM is extending the warranty coverage on the TPS on these vehicles to 10 years and/or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first from the original in-service date of the vehicle. Dealers are to replace the throttle position sensor and reprogram the engine control module at no cost to owners.

If an owner has already paid to have this repair done, the cost for the repair may be eligible under GM's Reimbursement Program. Ask local dealers for details on how to apply. Customers will be provided with courtesy transportation while vehicles are being repaired.

This campaign is being managed by VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). To determine if a particular vehicle is involved in this action, call GM for HUMMER/Saab at 800-222-1020; Cadillac, at 800-458-8006; and GMC at 800-462-8782. Reference Customer Satisfaction Campaign Number: 11273B entitled: Campaign - Throttle Position Sensor Replacement.
