Recall Alert: Volvo C30, S40 and V50
Jun 21, 2010
Volvo is recalling 2010 to 2011 C30s, as well as 2011 S40 and V50 models equipped with manual transmissions.
According to the New York Times, "Volvo is recalling about 500 of its 2010 and 2011 vehicles because of a problem with the gearshift lever."
Motor Trend writes: "Cars equipped with the optional six-speed manual transmission may experience trouble with the gearshift due to a stud assembly on the gearshift that wasn't tightened to correct specification during assembly. Because of the improper torque, the gearshift cable and or the stud assembly can come loose, effectively disconnecting the gearshift from the transmission and making it impossible for the driver to shift into or out of gear. If the gearshift becomes disconnected while driving, it could increase the chance of an accident."
Left Lane News adds: "Dealers will fix the affected vehicles by tightening the gearshift lever stud assembly to the correct specifications. Owners will be notified of the recall by the end of the month. No accidents or injuries have been linked to the recall.”
