Recall Alert: Volvo S60
Volvo Recalls 2012 S60 For Engine Problems
Jun 07, 2011
Volvo is recalling 7,558 S60 cars from the 2012 model year for a problem with the fuel pump. The software for the fuel pump may not be compatible with all fuel pumps and components, which could result in insufficient fuel transfer in the pump, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.
The recall affects S60 models manufactured from Nov. 18, 2010 through May 5, 2011. The NHTSA says that under certain driving conditions, the engine may hesitate and possibly stall, even though the fuel gauge indicates there is fuel in the tank. If the S60 stalls, it increases the risk of a crash.
Volvo said it is not aware of any injuries, fatalities or crashes related to the fuel pump problem, Edmunds’ Inside Line reports. Volvo said it has received 23 warranty claims in the U.S. for this software problem.
Volvo will start notifying affected owners near June 17 and will upgrade the software for free. Owners can contact the NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safecar.gov
