December 6, 2018 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

Dodge//SRT and Mopar have announced a renewed commitment to National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) competitors for the 2019 season. For the second consecutive year, the brands will offer racers in model-year 2005 and newer FCA US LLC vehicles complimentary entry in the NMCA Dodge/Mopar HEMI® Shootout category, providing performance enthusiasts a sanctioned and secure drag strip environment to race their muscle cars.

In its first year, the Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout drew large, 75-car fields showcasing a spectrum of modern-day FCA US vehicle nameplates, including Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Pack models, 707-horsepower Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models and the limited-production 840-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

The six-event 2019 NMCA schedule blasts off with the season-opening 17th annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida, March 7-10, 2019.

“The NMCA Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout is a great opportunity for the performance lovers who support our brands to hit the drag strip in a sanctioned, controlled environment,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar) and Passenger Car Brands, FCA - North America. “These events are the perfect venue to let our vehicle owners live out their passion, and we’re also proud to be able to help our new Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 owners experience their drag-oriented muscle cars by providing one-year NHRA and NMCA memberships.”

“NMCA was thrilled with the overwhelming response to the Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout class this year, and we look forward to continuing this exciting program in 2019,” said Steve Wolcott, President and CEO of the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals. “Passion for the Dodge Challenger and Gen III HEMI engine platforms has never been higher, and we anticipate full 75-car fields at each NMCA series national event. I personally invite anyone who’s never been down the drag strip before because our team makes it easy for enthusiasts to enjoy their Gen III HEMI engine-powered vehicles."

The NMCA Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout offers enthusiasts an easy, fun experience, with personalized, step-by-step instruction available. Competitors are encouraged to race at their own pace, depending on each participant’s comfort level. Each Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout participant will also receive a free collectible license plate. As an added bonus, participants who would like to extend their racing experience will also receive complimentary entry into the Sunday Bracket 3/Street class at each NMCA event.

The Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout class is open to the first 75 vehicle owners to register for each NMCA event, with each complimentary entry — valued up to $175 — good for one car/driver participant credential. Vehicles entered in the Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout must be licensed, insured and street driven, on street-legal tires and must be model-year 2005 or newer FCA US vehicles.

For a complete schedule, rules, entry guidelines, and registration information on the NMCA Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout, visit Dodge / Mopar HEMI Shootout | NMCA.

Season-opening NHRA Winternationals

Mopar-powered Dodge//SRT Drivers Hagan, Pritchett Look to Make History in Season-opening NHRA Winternationals

Two-time NHRA World Champion Matt Hagan looks to become only fourth Funny Car driver to win three consecutive NHRA Winternationals events
Four Don Schumacher Racing drivers among those seeking first win in Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car
NHRA Top Fuel star Leah Pritchett coming off career-best season and eyeing second Winternationals triumph in Pomona, California, in last three years
Two-time NHRA World Champion Cruz Pedregon to make debut in Mopar-powered Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car
Jim Campbell also set to drive Hellcat Funny Car for Jim Dunn Racing, mark third year in a Mopar-powered Dodge
Brands continue NHRA Sportsman racer support in 2019 with long-running Mopar
Contingency Program, third year of Dodge Top Finisher Award

February 6, 2019 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

Dodge//SRT and Mopar look to begin the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) 2019 season at the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, California, February 7-10, with a fifth consecutive Funny Car victory with one of Don Schumacher Racing’s (DSR) stable of Mopar/Dodge drivers and a second triumph in three years of Top Fuel competition in the Mopar-powered 330-plus mph machine of Leah Pritchett.

Matt Hagan, two-time NHRA Funny Car World Champion and driver of the Mopar Express Lane Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car, begins his second decade of carrying the Mopar brand seeking to join three other drivers that have won three consecutive Winternationals. He’ll also be seeking to make history and score the first NHRA National event win utilizing the Hellcat body, which debuted in July of last year.

“We are so excited to make that first hit of the year and knowing that we are starting in Pomona is something special,” said Hagan, winner of the 2015 and 2017-18 Winternationals. “The odds of winning any race out here are extremely high with the competition we have, but it feels good knowing we are the only ones heading there with a chance to win three straight. I hope I didn’t jinx myself (laughs) talking about winning three in a row. Seriously though, we are gunning for it. We want to be the first one to turn on four win lights with the Hellcat. I feel like we are going to come out strong and have a real opportunity to do it.”

Pritchett is coming off a career-best 2018 campaign, which included her domination of the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals Presented By Pennzoil and winning the 2018 Factory Stock Showdown championship. She’ll have primary placement of the Mopar and Dodge brands on the DSR Top Fuel Dragster in nine of the 24 events on the 2019 schedule. The impact of representing the iconic brands following an incredible season continues to resonate with the Redlands, California, native.

“The foundation has been laid over the last 15-plus years between Mopar/Dodge and DSR,” said Pritchett, winner of two 2018 Top Fuel national events and a career-best fourth place ranking in the final championship standings. “It’s difficult for me to put actual words out there to describe my place in it all. The groundwork for the success we’ve had is done and I can just tell you that being part of the Dodge/Mopar/DSR legacy is amazing. I am so stoked. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to start a season than I am right now.

“We are coming off an incredible season. One with such high emotions and career pinnacle achievements. Winning the Factory Stock Showdown was pure joy and the result of hard work, determination and being able to deliver. That followed the biggest win of my career last year at the Dodge Mile-High Nationals. It was a weekend filled with gratitude and miracles for me. Like I said, we have raised the bar and we’re ready to come back in 2019 and achieve even more.”

Hagan, who scored three wins and the eighth position in the 2018 standings, is focused on a better performance behind the wheel of a Mopar-powered DSR Dodge Funny Car in 2019 as he seeks his third career NHRA Funny Car title.

“Teamwork is everything,” said Hagan, who will have Dodge/Mopar as primary sponsor in 12 events in 2019. “I’ve won two World Championships. Finished runner-up twice. Won a bunch of races and it’s because of the people I’ve surrounded myself with. I’ve been around good people and we are all motivated and driven. That starts at the top with Don (Schumacher) and the last decade with Mopar. We are all goal oriented and driven. It’s a new season ahead of us and we’re all ready to get after it.”

Hagan’s DSR teammates, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman and Tommy Johnson Jr., will also battle for the crown in Mopar HEMI®-engine-fueled Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car machines. Capps, winner of the 2016 Winternationals and 2017 Funny Car champ, won three times last season and finished fourth in the standings. Beckman, the 2012 Funny Car champ, raced to two victories and finished seventh in points, while Johnson finished 2018 strong reaching the final in the season-ending NHRA Finals and finishing third in points.

Mopar and Dodge//SRT add Cruz Pedregon to driver lineup
A two-time NHRA World Champion will field a new Mopar-powered entry in the battle to bring home the 2019 Funny Car championship for Dodge//SRT and Mopar. Cruz Pedregon will debut a Mopar-powered Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car for the 2019 season at Pomona, and will give the brand another championship contender in the division.

“The timing was right and it’s a great opportunity with the new body style and all the other components to the relationship,” said Pedregon. “We will utilize the Dodge SRT Durango for support vehicles and it just enhances our entire program. And from an historical perspective, I think back to my dad racing in the early ‘60s with a 392 HEMI engine, and that’s what we have (HEMI engines) in these cars today. So there’s sentimental value in this too. We are really excited about this opportunity.”

Jim Dunn Racing’s Jim Campbell will also carry the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat graphics on his Funny Car this year. Campbell enters his third season behind the wheel of a Mopar-powered Dodge machine for Jim Dunn Racing, which has a long history of fielding Dodge Funny Cars. The team’s entry will bring to six the number of Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat drivers fighting for the 2019 Funny Car crown.

Mopar Contingency Program, Dodge Top Finisher Award Deliver Continued Support for NHRA Sportsman Racers
In the 2019 season, the Mopar and Dodge//SRT brands will continue to recognize and reward NHRA Sportsman racers who compete and win.

As it has for decades, the long-running Mopar Contingency Program will provide monetary awards for drivers who win or finish runner-up while running a Mopar contingency decal and utilizing specified parts, including the brand’s valve covers, intake manifolds and cylinder heads.

In addition, the Dodge Top Finisher award, first introduced in 2017, awards $500 to the Stock and Super Stock competitors behind the wheel of a Mopar-powered vehicle who advance the furthest at all 24 national events.

Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak Driver Pritchett Begins Factory Stock Championship Title Defense at Historic NHRA Gatornationals

Lynn Prudhomme to be recognized with 2019 Pat Garlits Memorial Award Presented by Mopar at International Drag Racing Hall of Fame ceremony

March 13, 2019 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

Leah Pritchett will lead a star-studded group of Dodge//SRT Mopar drivers into one of the marquee events of the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season, this weekend’s 50th annual NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville (Florida) Raceway. Pritchett will pull double duty, chasing both her first Top Fuel Gatornationals triumph as well as making her first start as reigning SAM Tech NHRA Factory Stock Showdown (FSS) world champion.

Pritchett raced her 354-cubic-inch HEMI®-engine-powered Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak to last year’s overall FSS championship with three consecutive season-ending wins to put an exclamation point on her campaign. The turning point in her title run came during the prestigious U.S. Nationals in Indy where she defeated her Don Schumacher Motorsports (DSM) teammate Mark Pawuk in the final. It was all win lights from there in the class for the Redlands, California, driver.

She’ll defend her title driving a Drag Pak carrying unique Mopar and Dodge//SRT “Angry Bee”-themed livery, designed by motorsports lifestyle brand Hoonigan and chosen by a fan vote on the brand’s website. Pritchett carries a 12-round winning streak into action against an extremely deep field that will not only include Pawuk in a Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, but also 2012 NHRA Pro Stock world champion and two-time Gatornationals champion Allen Johnson campaigning in a Drag Pak with additional vehicle preparation and support provided by DSM and Dodge//SRT Mopar engineers.

The goal is for Pritchett to make the maximum passes in Gainesville, not only in her Drag Pak with specially-designed Hoonigan livery, but also in her Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) Mopar Dodge Top Fuel dragster. She reached her 14th career final in the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Motorsports Pass near Phoenix on February 24 and currently ranks third in the Top Fuel championship standings. Pritchett would like to add a Gatornationals Wally to her trophy case and join Shirley Muldowney and Brittany Force as female Top Fuel winners in Gainesville.

“Competing at the Gatornationals alone is always prestigious, no less gunning for two Wallys at the 50th anniversary,” said Pritchett. “I remember attending the 50th anniversary of the Pomona Finals and Winternationals as a fan, and to now be a strong contender at the Gators in its golden hour is something that excites my soul. We have a great race car and team that I know is excited about putting on an incredible show for a sell-out crowd, as well as bringing home two truly golden wins to DSR. History will be made there, and we intend on giving it everything we’ve got to be the fastest part of it.”

Back-to-Back Theme for Beckman, Hagan in NHRA Funny Car
Winning NHRA Funny Car event titles is extremely difficult and the ratio for winning consecutive events is tough to match, but for Mopar-powered Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat DSR drivers Jack Beckman and Matt Hagan, the odds are in their favor.

Beckman raced his DSR Dodge Funny Car to his first Gatornationals triumph over Hagan last March. Hagan, driver of the Mopar Express Lane Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, is coming off the first-ever victory for the Hellcat body at the NHRA Arizona Nationals and is chasing his first Gatornationals victory.

Ron Capps, pilot of the DSR NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, will pursue a fourth Gatornationals win. Tommy Johnson Jr. will join his DSR teammates, as well as 1998 Gatornationals winner Cruz Pedregon and Jim Campbell, as six Mopar-powered Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Cars battle for spots in the eliminations field on Sunday.

Prudhomme, Lewis and Schumacher Honored

Lynn Prudhomme will be recognized with the 2019 Pat Garlits Memorial Award Presented by Mopar on Thursday, March 14, during the 28th Annual banquet and induction ceremony for the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame. Lynn, wife of drag racing superstar Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, has been at the forefront of efforts to help racing families in need. She was one of the driving forces behind the formation of DRAW (Drag Racing Association of Women), an organization that has supported families of drag racers who have been injured in racing accidents, helping to defray some expenses, since 1985.

The award is named for longtime Dodge and Mopar driver Don Garlits’ late wife, Pat. Don Garlits is a four-time Gatornationals winner and one of the sport’s most iconic personalities. The Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and International Drag Racing Hall of Fame is located in Ocala.

Don Schumacher Racing’s Senior Vice President, Mike Lewis, will be part of the 2019 class inducted to the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame during the Thursday night ceremony. Lewis’ honor comes just two days after team owner Don Schumacher’s induction into the prestigious Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in Daytona Beach, Florida.

19th Annual NHRA Dodge HEMI® Challenge

19th Annual NHRA Dodge HEMI® Challenge Set to Return to Iconic U.S. Nationals

Dodge//SRT continues title sponsorship of event, now in its 19th consecutive year at U.S. Nationals
1968 Dodge Dart and Plymouth Barracuda Super Stock cars — the most iconic of the Mopar-powered package cars — to battle it out head-to-head
NHRA Dodge HEMI® Challenge qualifying and eliminations scheduled for August 29-30 at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis
$15,000 winner’s purse, cash rewards for all 16 drivers qualifying for eliminations at stake

March 28, 2019 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The Dodge//SRT brand will return as title sponsor of the NHRA Dodge HEMI® Challenge, marking the 19th consecutive year of FCA US LLC sponsorship of the popular NHRA Sportsman event at the historic NHRA U.S. Nationals.

The 19th annual NHRA Dodge HEMI Challenge will fire up August 29-30 at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis as part of the six days of race action at the 65th annual U.S. Nationals. The event showcases Super Stock/A-HEMI (SS/AH) NHRA Sportsman class competitors battling on the quarter-mile in 1968 Dodge Dart and Plymouth Barracuda machines powered by the Mopar 426 HEMI engine.

“The NHRA Dodge HEMI Challenge is a fan-favorite tradition at the U.S. Nationals, and we’re proud to continue as title sponsor during one of the most prestigious events on the NHRA circuit,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, and Head of Parts and Service (Mopar) – FCA North America. “It speaks volumes about the legacy of our brand at the drag strip and the passion of our fans to see HEMI-engine-powered vehicles from more than 50 years ago side-by-side in the staging lanes next to our modern-day Dodge drag cars.”

The legendary 1968 Mopar “package” cars — so named because they were purpose-built as a distinct “package” for use solely on the drag strip — serve as precursors to the modern-day package car, the Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak.

Competitors will vie for the unique 42.6-lb NHRA Dodge HEMI Challenge trophy, created as a callout to the 426 HEMI engine. All 16 drivers to reach the elimination rounds will receive cash rewards, with the winner walking away with the ultimate prize of the $15,000 winner’s purse.

“Fans love the Dodge HEMI Challenge as much as our Sportsman racers do,” said Brad Gerber, NHRA Vice President and Chief Development Officer. “The competition gets more intense every year thanks to the effort Dodge puts in to this event. We can’t wait to see who walks away with the trophy this year.”

Dodge//SRT in NHRA
In addition to the NHRA Dodge HEMI Challenge, the Dodge//SRT brand also utilizes its Dodge Top Finisher program, now in its third year, to recognize and reward dedicated and passionate Sportsman racers. The Dodge Top Finisher award includes $500 each for the Stock and Super Stock competitors who advance the furthest behind the wheel of a Mopar-powered vehicle. The award is given in both classes at all 24 NHRA Nationals events.

Dodge//SRT will also return as title sponsor of the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals Presented by Pennzoil, scheduled for July 19-21, 2019, at Bandimere Speedway near Denver. The brand will also take over title sponsorship duties at the Dodge NHRA Nationals Presented by Pennzoil, the penultimate event of the NHRA season, scheduled for October 31 - November 3, 2019, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Dodge//SRT and Mopar have also joined forces to reach passionate NHRA fans through a 4,800-square-foot exhibit, one of the largest on NHRA Manufacturers Midway. The combined display will visit 15 events during the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

NHRA Dodge HEMI Challenge: Roster of Champions
The inaugural HEMI Challenge was won by Bucky Hess at Indianapolis in 2001. Richard Beshore claimed the top prize the following year, Jerry Jenkins took the victory in 2003 and Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. triumphed in 2004. In 2005, Charlie Westcott Jr. of Parma, Michigan, began a run of six career HEMI Challenge wins (2005, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2014).

His streak of victories was interrupted by Rick Houser in 2007 and 2013; his father Charlie Westcott Sr. in 2009; and Jim Daniels who took bragging rights in 2010. Lloyd Wofford claimed victory in 2015 at the 15th anniversary event. Jim Daniels’ son, Jimmy Daniels, made history last year by becoming the first driver to triumph in three consecutive events, claiming the 2018 NHRA Dodge HEMI Challenge win to go along with his 2016-2017 victories.

Mopar CAP Technician Students Meet NHRA Stars at Mopar Express Lane

Mopar CAP Technician Students Meet NHRA Stars at Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals Presented by Pennzoil
Hagan, Pritchett to Host Mopar CAP Students, Kickoff “Assemble Your Future” Initiative

NHRA stars Matt Hagan, Leah Pritchett meet Mopar Career Automotive Program (Mopar CAP) service technician students at Houston Raceway Park powered by Pennzoil
“Assemble Your Future” initiative links Mopar CAP students with FCA dealerships at four NHRA events for potential career opportunities
Mopar CAP has helped train next generation of service technicians since 1984
More than 9,000 current Mopar CAP students have completed 100,000-plus class courses
For more information on Mopar CAP program, visit www.MoparCap.com

April 9, 2019 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

Matt Hagan and Leah Pritchett will be taking next-generation service technicians to school during the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals Presented by Pennzoil, scheduled for April 12-14 in Houston. The NHRA stars will host pit tours and visit with Mopar Career Automotive Program (CAP) students from the area to help kick off the program's “Assemble Your Future” initiative.

Mopar Express Lane Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car driver Hagan and Mopar Dodge Top Fuel pilot Pritchett will meet with a group of more than 50 Mopar CAP students, instructors and FCA US LLC dealer representatives on Friday, April 12, at the Houston NHRA event.

The “Assemble Your Future” initiative will bring Mopar CAP students to four NHRA events in 2019 to network with dealer representatives, identify potential career opportunities and meet Mopar and Dodge//SRT NHRA racers as a reward for their participation in the program. The new initiative was made possible with support from Pennzoil, which is headquartered in Houston and is title sponsor of Houston Raceway Park powered by Pennzoil.

“We’re excited to launch the Mopar CAP ‘Assemble Your Future’ initiative and host our first group of technician students,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar) and Passenger Car Brands, FCA – North America. “This program allows the technicians of tomorrow to connect with more than 10 dealerships from the Houston area for potential career opportunities. It also provides a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet and interact with NHRA superstars.”

Students from Lone Star Community College – North Harris in Houston and San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas, will receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) pit paddocks and will have the opportunity to meet with Hagan, Pritchett and their crews.

Mopar CAP, established in 1984, prepares students to begin their automotive technician careers upon graduation from a certified, two-year training institution, such as a university, college, community college or technical center. Currently, FCA has more than 9,000 active students enrolled in its Mopar CAP program, with students completing more than 100,000 class courses.

There are an estimated 750,000 auto technicians working nationally, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Across the industry, another 46,000 will need to be hired between 2019 and 2026 to meet increased demand.

For Hagan, whose family owns the Motor Mile Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in Christiansburg, Virginia, and also operates a stand-alone Mopar Express Lane service center in Pulaski, Virginia, the growing need for skilled dealership technicians is one that hits close to home.

“From my father’s experiences running the dealership, I know there is a huge demand for dealership technicians,” said Hagan, who is seeking his second win at the Houston venue, and earlier this year earned the first victory for the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car body. “I know it’s something my dad and his team deals with every day. I’ve had the chance to meet and talk with Mopar CAP students in the past, and it’s great to see these young kids who are getting a big jump on their career paths early on, and in an area where there is so much need.”

Following the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals, the "Assemble Your Future" campaign will visit three additional NHRA national events:

Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals Presented by Pennzoil: July 19-21, 2019, at Bandimere Speedway near Denver
Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals Presented By Pennzoil: September 12-15, 2019, at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pennsylvania
Dodge NHRA Nationals Presented by Pennzoil: October 31 - November 3, 2019, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas

The "Assemble Your Future" presence at the four NHRA races will encompass close to 12 Mopar CAP schools operating in those areas. The goal is to continue expanding the campaign by adding more racing venues in the future.

“We want to start slow and then continue to build,” said Keith Yancy, Director of the FCA Performance Institute. “Our hope is to expand this campaign so we can reach all of our 99 schools now teaching our CAP curriculum.”

For more information on the Mopar CAP program, visit www.MoparCap.com.

Mopar in NHRA
The Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals Presented by Pennzoil is one of two events at which the brand will serve as headline sponsor. Later this year, the Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals Presented By Pennzoil will roll into Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pennsylvania, on September 12-15, 2019.

Mopar also continues to recognize and reward NHRA Sportsman racers who compete and win through the brand’s the long-running Mopar Contingency Program. The program delivers monetary awards for drivers who win or finish runner-up while running a Mopar contingency decal and utilizing specified parts, including the brand’s valve covers, intake manifolds and cylinder heads.

The brand also works in tandem with Dodge//SRT to feature a 4,800-square-foot exhibit packed with Mopar parts displays, Dodge vehicles and race simulators for NHRA fans to enjoy. The combined display, one of the largest on NHRA Manufacturers Midway, will appear at 15 events during the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

Vehicle first revealed last year at 2018 Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals and commemorated with special “Angry Bee” graphics on Leah Pritchett’s Top Fuel dragster

April 16, 2019 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The drag-oriented, street-legal 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is now National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) approved. The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 was recently given the green light to be modified for competition in NHRA Stock and Super Stock Sportsman class competition for the 2019 season.

Named for the quarter-mile distance (1,320 feet), the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is powered by the 392 HEMI® V-8 engine that delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. With a quarter-mile elapsed time (E.T.) of 11.70 seconds at 115 miles per hour (mph), the showroom-stock Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is the fastest naturally aspirated, street-legal muscle car available.

The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 can be modified for competition in NHRA according to Stock and Super Stock class rules. The vehicle will feature a class weight break of 8.72 and carry a minimum weight of 3,400 lbs. Contestants intending to compete at an NHRA event must meet any and all rules and regulations for the category they intend to enter.

A new “Angry Bee” interpretation of the legendary Dodge Super Bee logo marks the vehicle’s front fenders, instrument panel, headlamps, instrument gauge cluster startup splash screen and key fob. The street-to-strip muscle car is beginning to arrive in FCA US dealerships.

“With the new 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 hitting showrooms, we know it’s just a short time before the ‘Angry Bee’ is buzzing the quarter-mile in NHRA and NMCA competition,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “The 1320 brings the drag racing technology we launched on the limited-production Demon and pairs it with the proven 392 HEMI engine to create a blank canvas for the serious grassroots drag racer who may have one car that needs to do double duty — both at the drag strip and on the street.”

Hagan and Pritchett Power Up Dodge//SRT Mopar Teams in Denver
Mopar Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat NHRA Funny Car driver Matt Hagan and Mopar Dodge Top Fuel pilot Leah Pritchett will spearhead a formidable squad of Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) drivers battling for wins at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals Presented by Pennzoil.

Hagan debuted the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car body last year in Denver. Earlier this year, he became the first driver to claim victory in the new body with a win at the NHRA Arizona Nationals near Phoenix. The 2011 and 2014 Funny Car world champion, coming off a recent victory at the NHRA New England Nationals, is chasing his first triumph on “Thunder Mountain.”

Pritchett returns looking to continue her Mile-High magic. Last July, she topped the field in qualifying before rocketing her Mopar Dodge 1320 “Angry Bee” Top Fuel dragster to her first Denver victory. Pritchett carried the 1320 colors on her dragster after helping to reveal the drag-oriented, street-legal 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 production vehicle, and she will again carry the “Angry Bee” logo this year.

Hagan and Pritchett’s DSR teammates Jack Beckman and Ron Capps also return as previous winners of the event. Beckman will chase his fourth career triumph at Bandimere racing the Infinite Hero Foundation Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car, while Capps eyes a second Denver win in his Mopar-powered Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. July 18, 2019 , Morrison, Colorado -

Matt Hagan’s 11,000-horsepower NHRA Funny Car already goes big, but it’s getting an even more aggressive makeover just in time for the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals Presented by Pennzoil. Hagan will debut a new 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody graphics package with a flared-out feel at the Denver area event, scheduled to take place July 19-21, 2019.

Dodge//SRT and Mopar took the wraps off Hagan’s new Mopar-powered 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody NHRA Funny Car today during a pre-race press conference at iconic Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado. His special Funny Car graphics uniquely recreate the look of the production Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody vehicle’s new, wider integrated fender flares, which add 3.5 inches of body width to the production vehicle, creating an even more aggressive, planted stance. Hagan will carry the Widebody Package “flare” graphics on his Funny Car for the remainder of the 2019 season.

The Widebody Package, first announced by Dodge//SRT in late June, is standard on the Charger SRT Hellcat and also available on the Dodge Charger Scat Pack. Powered by the 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V-8 engine, the production version of the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody boasts a best-in-class 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers a top speed of 196 miles per hour (mph), maintaining its reign as the most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world.

Dealers will be able to order 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody and Scat Pack Widebody models this fall, and new Charger Widebody models will start arriving in Dodge//SRT dealerships in early 2020.

“NHRA fans are passionate about power and performance, so we decided to transform Matt Hagan’s Funny Car into a HEMI-powered showcase for our new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody,” said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “At Dodge, we push the envelope, but even we couldn’t get this one approved, so for now Matt Hagan has the only Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody that has more than 707 horsepower.”

“Last year, I had the honor of debuting the Mopar Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car body at Denver, and it’s cool to be able to follow that up this year by revealing new Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody graphics,” said Hagan, a two-time NHRA Funny Car champion, who has raced in a Dodge Funny Car for his entire 10-year-plus career. “The graphics really mimic the flared appearance of the Charger Widebody, and I think fans are going to dig the look. It’s great having a sponsor like Dodge//SRT, a brand that is really committed to using NHRA to reach out to the performance enthusiasts who fuel our sport.”

Brands Debut New @dodgeMoparMotorsports Racing-focused Instagram Channel at Denver
In addition to new 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody graphics, Hagan’s Funny Car will also carry the colors of the Dodge//SRT and Mopar brands’ new race-centric Instagram channel, www.instagram.com/dodgemoparmotorsports.

Hagan’s Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody will feature the @dodgeMoparMotorsports logo on its hood as part of the channel’s formal launch during race weekend. The @dodgeMoparMotorsports Instagram channel will share content capturing Dodge//SRT Mopar drivers in action in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, NHRA Sportsman grassroots racers competing in classes such as Factory Stock Showdown, Stock and Super Stock, as well as additional motorsports series such as the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Concept’s recent run in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Mopar CAP Program Partners with NHRA YES Program
  • Move designed to highlight opportunities in automotive technician careers to interested students

October 10, 2019 ,
Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Mopar Career Automotive Program (CAP), an FCA program aimed at developing the next generation of automotive service technicians, has partnered with one of the largest motorsports educational programs to elevate student interest in the industry.

The National Hot Rod Association Youth & Education Service (YES) Program is the only full-time education program uniting students from high school and middle schools across the country with racing through programs and on-track experience. The goal of YES is to show how math, science and technical skills can lead to new career opportunities.

“The partnership with YES dovetails into our efforts to show those following the Mopar CAP program just how far they can go, whether it’s building a career with one of our 2,600 dealerships or working on one of our brands in the racing industry,” said Keith Yancy, who heads the Mopar CAP program. “The need for these skills is intense and the statistics show that demand for automotive technicians will only increase over time.”

Mopar CAP offers tailored service technician courses through 100 certified training institutions, such as universities, colleges, community colleges and technical centers. The curriculum is designed to immediately place students in FCA dealerships upon graduation. There are more than 9,000 active students enrolled in the Mopar CAP program.

This year, Mopar CAP launched the “Assemble Your Future” campaign, which gives these students the opportunity to meet with dealer representatives, FCA technicians and Dodge//SRT and Mopar-sponsored professional racing teams. About 40 Mopar CAP students, instructors and dealers located near four different NHRA national events will be invited to the track for a day of networking.
